Earl T. Gees

Earl T. Gees, 87, of La Crosse died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born March 15, 1916, in Victory, Wis., to Andrew and Mary (Jambois) Gees. Earl married Lucille C. Albrechtson on Aug. 11, 1945, in La Crosse. He graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1936. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, having served with the Air Force Finance Department at the Gulf Coast Pilot Training Center in San Antonio and Midland, Texas, and in Independence, Kan. He was a member of Roy L. Vinger's American Legion Post 52, La Crosse. Earl had worked as a supervisor for Allis Chalmers of La Crosse and after 36 years retired in 1969, when the company left La Crosse. He was a member of the Allis Chalmers Management Club.

Earl was an avid golfer and a member of the La Crosse Country Club more than 40 years and served on its board of directors for several years. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled in the La Crosse Classic League for many years. He was a member of the 700 Club Bowling Association. Earl spent many good times with his friends as a member of the "Kaffee Klutch" at Fayze's.

In addition to his wife, Lucille, he is survived by his son, Tom (Anne) Gees of Onalaska, Wis.; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Katie and Christie Gees; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Ed) Redlin of Plano, Texas, and Janice Tronick of La Crosse; two brothers-in-law, Don Beardmore of Beloit, Wis., and Norris Albrechtson of Reedstown, Wis.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A twin brother, Everett, and three other infant brothers preceded him in death. Earl will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Hundt will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Karla J. Sickles

LANSING, Iowa - Karla J. (Worman) Sickles, 47, of Lansing passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003, in her home, with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 27, 1955, to Donald and Diane Worman of rural De Soto, Wis., where she grew up on her parents' farm. She lived her adult life in Lansing, where she worked 29 years at the Blumenthal Co.

She is survived by her beloved son, Kent E. Worman of Lansing; parents, Donald and Diane Worman of De Soto; three sisters, Alynn (Ray) Graves of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Karen Worman of Genoa, Wis., and Dawn (Thomas) Worman-Cook of Madison; one brother, Todd (Carol) Worman of La Crosse; 15 nieces and nephews; and many dear friends of Lansing.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Connie Mae McGillivray

VIROQUA, Wis. - Connie Mae McGillivray, 51, of Purdy Valley, rural Viroqua, died Saturday evening, May 17, 2003, at her home of breast cancer, which she had struggled with the past three years. She was born March 15, 1952, in Minnesota.

She married Mike McGillivray and they lived in North Dakota. They later were divorced and she lived in La Crosse, Osseo, Wis., Strum, Wis., and Viroqua before moving to Purdy.

She is survived by two daughters, Shannon McGillivray and Carissa McGillivray, and two sons, Robert Johnson and Tim McGillivray. She also is survived by a stepdaughter, Katherine McGillivray and two grandchildren, Jerzee and Dillan.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, with Pastor John Eumurian officiating. Burial will be in Bad Axe Cemtery in Purdy. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and again Wednesday after 8 a.m.

Jewell O. Johnson

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - Jewell O. Johnson, 81, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Houston, Minn., died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Itasca Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Badger Valley, Houston County, Minn., to Nels and Sarah Dahle. She attended school in Badger Valley and Houston. She married Alton N. Johnson on Aug. 10, 1940.

She worked for Grasby and Flatt and for Ace Telephone in Houston for 28 years. She was active at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and the Red Cross. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and sharing her produce and baked goods with loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Herman, Arden, Silas and Niles Oliver; and sisters, Pearl and Juel.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Bill) Carlson of Bovey, Minn.; grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Mann of Aurora, Minn., Stacey (Mike) Ahcan of Grand Rapids and Shari (Chuck) Plante of Fort Ripley, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Nick, Derek and Chanelle Snyder, Andrew Clark, and Beau and Brady Mann; special nephew and niece, Carl and Judy Solie; sisters, Evangeline Gorgos of Minneapolis and Doris Scavone of Clinton Township, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Leah Swenson and Lyla Johnson of Florida and Shirley Johnson of Idaho; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Mary) Johnson of Nevada; and many cousins nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Stone Church in Houston, with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be at Stone Church Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the church. Hoff Funeral Homes-Houston Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements

Elmer F. Loging

HOLMEN, Wis. - Elmer F. Loging, 86, of Holmen died Monday, May 19, 2004, in Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse. Services will be announced by Fossum Funeral Home, Onalaska, Wis.
