But the Vikings will have to find a way to reach their goals without sophomore guard Haley Croell.
Croell, who was injured just seconds after entering Tuesday night's 30-21 nonconference victory over West Salem, will miss the rest of the season.
"It's a huge blow to our team," Holmen coach Duane Vike said. "But we still have quite a few quality players."
Croell, who averaged 5.2 points per game as a freshman, injured the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee on a move to the basket against the Panthers.
That means Vike will have to find another source of explosiveness and speed that would have certainly helped his team this season.
"We brought her up about four weeks into the season last year as a freshman," Vike said. "This year, you could already see that she was feeling much more comfortable and confident."
As Vike also pointed out, the team — which he said took the news hard — doesn't have much time to put the injury behind them.
Beginning Tuesday night at Eau Claire Memorial, Holmen will play four games in an eight-day stretch. It hosts Central on Thursday night in the second game of that stretch.
POEHLING AN ALL-STATE SOCCER PICK: Aquinas senior Bob Poehling has been named an honorable mention member to the WSCA All-State team for his performance in the Blugolds' Mississippi Valley Conference championship season.
Poehling scored 28 goals as Aquinas jumped from last place to first in the MVC.
Poehling, who scored 98 goals in his career, led the Blugolds to a 12-6-3 record this season and into the WIAA Division 3 sectionals.
Aquinas posted a 9-0 conference record, winning its first outright MVC title since 1997.
AHNEN KEEPING GOOD COMPANY: Sparta sophomore Jenna Ahnen has been ranked fourth nationally in the 114-pound weight class by the United States Girls Wrestling Association.
The ranking is the third-highest among state wrestlers, trailing Tomahawk junior Alyssa Lampe (second, 100) and Fennimore senior Lacey Novinska (third, 152).
Lampe qualified for the WIAA state meet a year ago as Ahnen completed her first varsity season with the Spartans.
WBCA ALL-STAR GAME: While players won't be named to summer All-Star teams until after the season, a couple of area coaches have already received word that they will be involved in the festivities at Madison on the week of June 12.
Cashton girls coach John Heinberg, who has a career record of 114-82, will be the head coach for the Division 4 South team. He'll be assisted by North Crawford coach Dave Bergum and Cashton assistant coach Ryan Brown.
Teams begin practice on June 12, with games set for June 18 at the Kohl Center.
Heinberg's Eagles, who opened their season with a 60-33 win over Westby, are ranked fifth in Division 4 in the first WBCA Coaches poll.
