Published - Tuesday, January 18, 2005 Three suspects in thefts jailed WHITEHALL, Wis. — Three men have been accused in Trempealeau County of stealing and damaging six pickup trucks and breaking into two cabins in December. The Trempealeau County District Attorney's office plans to file formal charges today against Lucas Casper, 21, of Blair, Wis.; Justin Kummer, 19, of Whitehall, Wis.; and Rorylee McConnell, 19, of Taylor, Wis. Two of the men were arrested Thursday at a home in neighboring Jackson County. The third was arrested Monday. All were being held in jail pending charges. Investigators also recovered property they think connects the men to the burglaries, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department. On Dec. 17, six pickup trucks were taken from Keenan's automotive dealership north of Whitehall. One truck was returned to the dealership after being driven, but deputies found the other five trucks damaged and abandoned in a wooded area seven miles east of Whitehall. At the same time, authorities began investigating burglaries reported at cabins near Blair and Whitehall, in which alcohol, hunting gear, tools and cash were taken. The sheriff's department said a young woman was believed to be involved as well. Jeff Dankert is a reporter for the Winona (Minn.) Daily News.
