Harold H. Missell
HOUSTON, Minn. Harold H. Missell died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse.
Harold was born April 2, 1918, in St. Charles, Minn., to Herman and Ernestine (Simon) Missell. He attended grade and high school in Plainview, Minn. He also attended St. Charles Normal School, Winona State, La Crosse State, and the Minnesota Farm School in St. Paul, Minn. Harold taught in rural schools in Wabasha and Winona Counties of Minn., and La Crosse. He also taught a veterans agriculture class at Houston for 3½ years. Harold served on the Houston School Board for 17 years and was a longtime member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Houston. He was a rural mail carrier for 30 years on Route 2 in Houston. Harold was a veteran of World War II with 4½ years of service and was discharged with the rank of master sergeant. Harold was a member of the American Legion Post 423 of Houston and had served both as adjunct and commander. He served as a county commander. He was also was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Minnesota Chapter 35 of Winona. He married Avis Mades on May 7, 1944, in Houston. She passed away due to cancer in March 1989. He married Olga Appleby Junghans on Oct. 28, 1989, at Trempealeau, Wis. Harold and Olga spent their winters in McAllen Texas. Harold was active in the area and owned a citrus grove in the Mission-Sherryland, Texas, area for a number of years.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one sister and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Olga A. Missell; two daughters, Carolyn (John) Mikkonen of Shakopee, Minn., and LaVon Missell of Holly Springs, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sally (John) Gorman of Huntington Beach, Cal., and Mary (Jim) Carlson of Blair, Wis.; three stepsons, Robert (Kathy) Junghans of North Oaks, Minn., Phillip (Joan) Junghans of Onalaska, Wis., and Mike (Susan) Junghans of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one sister, Lillean Graff of Lakeside, Calif.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.
There will be a memorial service for Harold at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Hoff Funeral Homes-Houston Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minn.
Linda K. Zillmer
ONALASKA, Wis. Linda K. Zillmer, 57, of Onalaska was called to her eternal home with her family by her side Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at her home in Onalaska.
She was born in Sparta, Wis., on Dec. 15, 1948, to Lynn and Alice (Powell) Merow. She married Bing Zillmer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cataract, Wis., on June 29, 1968.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carol (Brad) Trocinski of West Salem, Wis., and Susan (Jason) Effinger of Altoona, Wis.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isaac, Mara and another on the way; her parents, Lynn and Alice of Sparta, Wis.; five sisters, Marilyn (Dave) Woodworth of Kendall, Wis., Peggy (Bill) Weber of Arlington, Wis., Christine (Patrick) Baierl of Luxomburg, Wis., Pam (Scott) Vieth of Sparta, and Janet (Dean) Loeffler of West Salem; two brothers, Mark (Darlene) Merow and Karl (Cindy) Merow, both of Sparta, Wis.; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one niece, Tammy Hansen; and one nephew, Andrew Vieth.
Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lives on through the many family and friends she touched with her warmth and giving ways. But most of all Mom loved being a grandma and our best friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thusday, Feb. 9, at Immanuel Evangelical Luth-eran Church of La Crosse. Pastor Mark Rieke will officiate. Burial will be in Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used for an educational fund for the grandchildren.
Mavis H. Hendrickson
APPLE VALLEY, Minn. Mavis H. Hendrickson, 81, resident of Apple Valley, formerly of Crosslake, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minn.
Mavis was born March 3, 1924, in Crystal Valley, Minn., to Thor O. and Amanda (Gustafson) Sanden. She married Roger Hendrickson on Dec. 17, 1948, in Houston, Minn. Mavis was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters, Judith (Pete) Lish of Wildwood, Fla., Betty (Bruce) Vonderohe of Apple Valley, Kristine (John) Nett of Winona, Minn., and Lynn Hendrickson of Maple Grove, Minn.; sons, Robert (Cindy) Hendrickson of Brainerd, Minn., and Randy (Becky) Hendrickson of Shoreview, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, Brenda, Britt, Bekki, Andrew, Joshua, Jaimie, Jayme, Angela, Nichole, Amy, Thomas, Matthew and Erik; five greatgrandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Christopher, Dakota and Alaina Mavis; brothers, Gladen (Floreen) Sanden and Allen Sanden; sister, Sigrid (Calvin) Voshart; brother-in-law, Lyle Schild; and special friend, Lori Salaski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, on Jan. 29, 2005; two sisters, Ila and Vilas; her parents; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, with the Rev. Mark Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Minn. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

John O. Brainard
POSTVILLE, Iowa John O. Brainard, 84, of rural Postville died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa, following a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1921, near Postville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Postville, with burial in the church cemetery. Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, assisted the family with arrangements.
Frances L. Antony
ROCKLAND/SPARTA, Wis. Frances L. Antony, 92, of Rockland died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at her home. She was born June 19, 1913, in Rockland to Chester and Clara (Moe) Udell. She grew up in Rockland.
She married Larry Antony on Jan. 13, 1934, in Sparta. After marriage, they lived in Rockland. She was a lifelong resident of Rockland and enjoyed going to many high school basketball games, including being a season ticket holder of all Catbird and Bobcat basketball games. She enjoyed watching baseball on TV, Brewers, Cubs, and also basketball games. Frances enjoyed visiting with friends on Saturday evening at McDonald’s in Sparta.
A special thank you for her caregivers, Linda and Sherry and many good friends.
She is survived by her son, Raymond (Barb) Antony of La Crosse; two grandsons, Jeffory (Ellen) Antony of Forest Lake, Minn., and Kyle Antony of Appleton, Wis.; three greatgrandchildren, Danielle, Tyler and Emilie; sisters-in-law, Beulah Udell of Gilbert, Ariz., Mildred Larson of Cashton, Wis.; brother-in-law, Howard (Joan) Antony of Onalaska, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry, on April 29, 1983; a son, Dennis Antony; four brothers, Clarence, Arthur, Grant and Spencer; and two sisters, Grace Irvine and twin sister, Fern Johnson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with the Rev. John Brouwer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.

Orinda Maria Katrina (Bresser) Nelson
Orinda Maria Katrina (Bresser) Nelson, 95, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Bethany-Riverside Health Care in La Crosse.
She was born Sept. 18, 1910, in rural Houston County, Minn., to Henry and Elsbeth (Ehlers) Breeser. She married Peter Nelson on Jan. 18, 1930, in Winona, Minn., and he preceded her in death April 8, 1967. Orinda had worked for Electric-Auto-lite, Coughlins Grocery Store and the Wonder Bread Outlet. She loved to dance, do needlework, and for the past five years played cards every Friday afternoon with her daughter.
Orinda is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Arlan) Wekseth of Onalaska, Wis.; granddaughters, Roxan (Mark) Schilling of Onalaska, and Ivy (William) Prestwood of West Salem, Wis.; grandson, Lindsey (Gina) Wekseth of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; great-grandchildren, April (Steve) Killette of Onconta, Ala., John (Nancy), Matthew and Erin Schilling, all of Onalaska, Jessica Stelloh of New York, and Heather and Zoey Wekseth, both of Chippewa Falls; a great-great-grandchild, Renoa Schilling; and a brother, Leo (Lois) Breeser of New Albin, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, Orinda was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Esther Breeser, Hannah Mulholland and Selma Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. The Rev. Ted Dewald will officiate, and burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Roselle Francis Severson
Kendall, Wis. Roselle Francis Severson, 89, of Kendall died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wis.
He was born June 3, 1916, in Juneau County to William and Sophia (Behnke) Severson. His mother died when he was 8 years old. Roselle helped his father on the farm and did the housework. In 1940, he entered the U.S. Army when war was declared in 1941. He served in Burma until the fall of 1945, when he was discharged and returned home. He worked for Lee’s Plumbing in Elroy, Wis., until he found work in Janesville and Beloit, Wis. He joined Engineers Local 139 and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He remained a union member and received a plaque for 50 years of membership. In 1980 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Wyttenbach Lee, they operated the Corner Tavern until 1992. He broke his hip Aug. 21, 2005, and shortly after moved to Heritage Manor for rehabilitation.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty,” a stepson, Lee (Cindy) Wyttenbach, both of Kendall; two stepdaughters, Carole (Gail) Ramsey of Prairie du Sac, Wis., and Linda (Buzz) Finnegan of Kendall; seven stepgrandchildren, Todd Lawson of Kendall, Nikki Wyttenbach of Chicago, Gwen (Chad) Olson of Montgomery, Ill., Clint (Jennifer) Ramsey of Sun Prairie, Wis., Andrea (Troy) Kersten of Lodi, Wis., and Victor and Nathan Wyttenbach of Kendall; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Valerie Kersten of Lodi; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Joseph; and a sister, Alida.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Feb. 7, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall. Pastor Fred Fedke will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in S. Beloit, Ill.
Relatives and friends are invited to call today at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kendall from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Patricia M. Oliver
HOLMEN, WIs. Patricia M. Oliver, 58, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, following an inspirational battle with brain cancer. Pat was born May 27, 1947, in La Crosse to Gerald and Evelyn (Johnston) Hendrickson. She married Larry Oliver on May 6, 1972, in La Crosse. She had been employed by Northern Engraving in Galesville, Wis. Pat will be long remembered for her love of family, enjoyment of life and boisterous laugh.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Pat is survived by her husband, Larry; six daughters, Shana (Darin) Berg of Coon Valley, Wis., Stacey Fox of La Crescent, Minn., Robin (Tom) Twite of Caledonia, Minn., Amanda Oliver of Galesville, Wis., Andrea (Kevin) Nerby of Holmen and Lori Tooley of Michigan; eight grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life, Brandon, Ava, Jacob, Sophia, Eli, Kenny, Sequoia and Jamie; three sisters, Beverly Hestbeck, Janie (George) Britt and Ellie (Mark) Reitmeyer; and two brothers, Raymond and John Hendrickson.
A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen. The Rev. Dean Staffanson will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alcee Jumonville, Dr. Pat Conway, the radiation staff at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center and the entire hospice staff for their support and care during the past nine months; Chaplain Dean Staffanson for his guidance and support; and Terri Rose for her kind heart and hands when caring for Pat, especially in her final weeks.
