" Define derogatory. It's called free speech. I find it helpful to know I’m not alone. My husband and I barely lived through a F-5 Tornado. ARC decided to skip over helping us, probably because we weren’t on the street where Fox television helicopters were flying. Always in the limelight, yet so many who truly need help don’t get it. I have MS and was left without life sustaining supplies including meds. I was so excited to see the helicopters, the medics, and the Red Cross go by. Did one of them stop to see if we needed help? No. Will this happen again? I’m now part of a private focus group where this article was shared from someone in Colorado as part of an emergency preparedness discussion and the Red Cross. Truth hurt? "

" Unless one knows the IPs of the parties that posted one shouldn't make such accusations. I found this article when looking for information on how the Red Cross dealt with people with disabilites & health problems during 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina for a focus group. Really wasn't that hard to find if you are willing to click around. See, there is a huge national focus group discussing this topic right now and people were assigned to see what they found in the search engines and share their findings and I am a part of that focus group so I am really not surprised to see that others have commented. Welcome to the World Wide Web. There seems to be an exaggerated sense persecution here as there is nothing derogatory being said here. "

" How is it that nothing has been posted on this story for a long time and then two posts appear within about 45 minutes of each other...sounding very similar and referring to both the Trib and Holmen paper.....making derogatory comments about the Red Cross. What could have prompted someone to go searching for these stories - could it be an organized attempt to bad mouth the Red Cross? I follow this story because I know people who worked with Judy at school before she went to NY and am familiar with her story - I just want to make sure the truth is known. "

" It doesn't surprise me. It seems like the Red Cross has issues all over the country. I know of another dedicated volunteer who was shafted by the Red Cross due to health issues. Such a shame considering these people are volunteers. It amazes to hear how many families she has served, how many fatalities in which she was there to hold their hand, yet the Red Cross is not looking out for their own?? What is the bottom line? Greed & Spin Control. For an agency that's supposed to be non-partisan, they sure do know how to participate in politics. "

" It appears some of these comments (both on the La Crosse Tribune and the Holmen Courier) are being made by ARC employees needing to C.Y.A. for their mistakes they had made and lack of care & compassion to their volunteers. I know for fact Mrs. Wolff is not the only one treated poorly by the Red Cross. I also know that all of the fundraisers were done by non-Red Cross employees. Only until Congress stepped up to the plate did anything from the Red Cross happen. The Red Cross doesn't look after its own. They look out for the bottom dollar. This is a prime case in point. "

" Your right many have come to the aide of my Mom. But as for the Fundraiser, my Sister and Brother are the only 2 that put together the Benefit for my Mom with the help of a couple friends. Also, Mom filed a claim with the Red Cross and it was ignored till Congress got involved. "

" Being one of Judy's Friends I have seen the hardships she had to go threw to get the assistance she did recieve. Unless you know the facts and have seen the numerous letters, don't judge her for a typo someone else did. "

" Reading over the comments on the article that was printed on me, I had to comment on a few things. Anyone can make a typo in an article. I enformed the paper that there was a typo as soon as I read the artcle and they printed the correction. As for assistance from NYC Workers Comp. I do get Workers Comp from NYC but I do not get my medical bills fully payed for if I do not go to NYC. Any medical bills here I pay what Medicare does not pay. But when I go to NYC, Workers Comp pays the whole bill and also pays for my prescriptions in full. I have had many wonderful people come forward to help the past 5 years and i'm very Thankful for those friends that did. My illness is permanent and medical bills are a big problem. "

" Judy is eligible for benefits as a volunteer via the fund set up by congress administered by NY state workers comp even though she lives out of state---and can get lost income, payment for medical treatment in her state, as well as medications---she just has to file a claim "

" You do not need to live in NY to get NY benefits. That is simply a total fabrication. "

" Ms. Wolff deserves full and continued health benefits and compensation for any lack of physical capacity the same as any person injured in the line of duty defending our country. "

" If you look up other articles written about Judy you will see that she has received help in the past - the Holmen Lioness, Holmen Lutheran Church, River City Dental, the American Red Cross and most recently a fundraiser which was done by a group of folks from Holmen - so to say she was denied any help is false. My thoughts and prayers are with Judy and her family - her service was commendable. "

" Our soldiers are'nt,from Iraq, yet when injured over there, they get help from the U.S.(voluntarly,by joining the military). Judy was doing a great service,on a volunteer basis, and she is denied any help? New York is so lucky, people from around the U.S.,were willing to help them, especially, when the dangers were still there. Maybe a fund raiser is in order, or a petition to New York.Judy needs help, deserves help, and should get it. God Bless Judy and her family! "
