Berzinski completes certification as an italian limestone plaster applicator
Catherine Berzinski, owner of Faux Beautiful of Winona, a decorative painting business, recently completed her certification as an Italian limestone plaster applicator after studying in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Berzinski has been creating unique faux painted and stenciled rooms for 20 years. Last month she trained and acquired the skills to create authentic Italian limestone plaster. Million dollar plus home decorators, on the east and west coast, are seeking after this cutting edge finish. This finish can be applied to various surfaces such as floors, walls and ceilings.
The medium she uses is real limestone. This product is made using the same technique the Romans used to obtain the lime that was the base for Pompeii's frecoes. The plasters and natural earth pigments used will cure and return to their original form of limestone; thus providing a durable surface and high-end aesthetics with no synthetics added.
Berzinski and another student from the Italian Limestone seminar collaborated on a Parade of Homes fundraiser for which they won the Crafts-manship Award. This award was granted for their outstanding design work and quality craftsmanship by the Home Builders & Contractors Association of Brevard, FL.
Berzinski continues to hone her skills and has taken several certified courses around the country, gaining a high level of expertise. She feels people should always decorate their homes the way they want, but as a professional she can assist and elevate that level taking it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Berzinski points out that her artisanship is part artist, part decorator and part advisor.
