" Maybe Bjerke has more cases than any other prosecutor in the state because he is the most inefficient prosecutor in the state. A "profile" contains positives and negatives; a "puff piece free campaign ad by an either biased or too incompetent to realize it media" would only contain positives and positive spin on everything else. Mr. Bjerke may very well be a swell guy and hard worker. The damage this piece does is that it makes no effort to say whether he is a competent lawyer, and oh yeah, he's running to be a JUDGE. For instance, does this guy ever win any trials? I'm guessing not, that's hard to spin positively. Definitely a disappointment by the Tribune. "

" Todd undoubtedly has the heaviest caseload in the state and is truly the hardest-working attorney I have ever met. To see that his profile is in the news is something long overdue. 'a dose of reality' should show a little more respect to such an outstanding man in public service. I don't care about the politics here, nor do I think this is the place to discuss them. "

" Whoa, Judge Perlich was a Wisconsin judge of the year in 2003 for creating the drug court. Todd was in the DA's office since 1988 and is now a "founding member?" Perlich's expertise in the area was again on display when he spoke in favor of a local drug ordinance. Todd's boss Scott Horne says the ordinance will never be used. What does Todd think about that? He supposedly has already been one of the first people to ever recognize lock 'em up and throw away the key doesn't always work?! I look forward to Todd's campaign stance on this issue. "

" Although Mr. Bjerke's accomplishments are commendable, it would be well worth the effort for the Tribune to feature profiles of others in the legal community who have made contributions in excess of those displayed in this story. The Tribune should know and consider the appearance of endorsement it is making when featuring an individual who is a candidate in an upcoming election. Especially when including quotes of others in organizations with the ability to influence the general constituency. "

" Drugs don't kill people, drug laws do.
When's the last time someone killed for a sixpack?
99% of all overdoses are because of the unknown purity/strength of street drugs.
Drug murders are because of drug laws, you can't legally collect a drug debt.
The Scandinavion countries have liberal drug laws with the lowest use among youth.
We can't afford the expense to lockup everyone that does things we disagree with.
If drug laws worked prices would skyrocket, however the price of drugs is at an all time low.
Government needs boogymen (in this case drugs) to increase power and spending , one of the strongest lobbies is prison guards.
Every year we have a "new" government discovered crisis, this year meth (which has been around for years)they all require more spending, more police, and less rights for the citizen. "

" Don't forget that while Todd Bjerke may be the one prosecuting the case, he himself has little to do with a person's recovery. He recommends AODA assessment and counseling as a condition of sentencing, and that's where his commitment ends. It's still up to the judge to actually order the AODA counseling, and as far as treatment and recovery is concerned the drug rehab program they enter deserves most of the credit for "saving addicts from their deathbeds."
