.
M&I Bank said Friday that Ron Wessels has decided to retire, effective March 31, as president of its La Crosse bank. He will be succeeded by Larry Bodin.

M&I said Wessels will serve the bank as a consultant for the rest of 2007, and also will become chairman of the local bank’s advisory board. He joined M&I in 2002 as president of the La Crosse bank and has more than 35 years of financial services experience.
Wessels received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and is a Vietnam veteran. He is on the boards of the Great Rivers United Way, the Gateway Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the

La Crosse Area Family YMCA. He and his wife, Theresa, have two adult children and will continue to live in the La Crosse area.

Bodin joined M&I Bank in La Crosse in 2003 as vice president of commercial banking and has more than 15 years of financial services experience. He served in the Navy and earned a bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.

Bodin is president of the Holmen Area Rotary Club and is on the boards of the Viterbo University Dahl School of Business and the Chileda Institute Inc. He is a United Way account executive and a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association high school basketball official. He and his wife, Elaine, have two children and live in Holmen, Wis.
