Viterbo takes two from North Central

Six Viterbo University pitchers held North Central to just six hits and led the way to a nonconference doubleheader sweep Tuesday at the Viterbo University Athletics Complex.

The V-Hawks won 8-1 and 11-0. Viterbo improved to 15-9 this season and has won five of its last six.

Game one starter Jeff Baylor got Viterbo off to a strong start, throwing four perfect innings as the V-Hawks took a 4-0 lead and didn’t look back.

Baylor, a left-hander from South Beloit, Ill., struck out six.

Four of Viterbo’s eight runs in the first game were unearned thanks to four errors. Rams pitchers also hit five batters. Steven Boldt capitalized with two RBI and James Madison stole three bases.

The V-Hawks scored nine runs in the first two innings of the second game.

Zach Paulson, Matthew McGaughey and Zach Schoh each had two hits and two RBI.

Starter Matt Saldana threw four scoreless innings for the win.
