UW-L seventh in Directors’ Cup

Heading into the spring sports season, UW-La Crosse is ranked seventh nationally in the United States Sports Academy Directors’ Cup standings. The standings recognize

the best overall athletic programs in NCAA Division III.
UW-L, which is the top-ranking WIAC program, earned 90 points for the men’s track and field team’s second-place national finish. UW-L also earned 85 points for the wrestling team’s third-place national finish, and 80 points for the women’s track and field team’s fourth-place effort.

UW-L also picked up 51 points for its 23rd-place finish at the men’s swimming and diving championships, and 50 points for its 24th-place effort at the women’s swimming and

diving championships.

Williams College of Massachusetts leads the Directors’ Cup standings with 704.5 points, while Middlebury College of Vermont is second with 664.5 points.

UW-L has seven top-10 finishes in the 11 years of the Directors’ Cup program.

" UW Madison has moved into the top spot overall for D1 for the Directors Cup. I'm not going to add it all up, but just take a look over the past year. The indoor men's track team just won Nationals, the girls hockey team won a National Title (again), the basketball team took 2nd in the Big 10 and was ranked as high as #1 on the season, the football team lost only one game on the season and ended up being ranked 5th, the wrestling team ended up 2nd in the Big 10 (beat Iowa for the first time in over 30 years, and the list goes on. Congrats to Madison. "
