The Eagles, 18-5 overall, earned a spot in the 48-team national tournament by winning the WIAC team title last fall. UW-L’s only other appearance in the tournament was 2001.
UW-L is led by No. 1 singles/doubles player Angie Riedel. The senior from Wauwatosa, Wis., is 25-7 in singles matches this season and 23-4 with doubles partner Julie Tellefsen.
Riedel is a three-time WIAC singles champion with a 94-22 career record and is a two-time doubles champion and is 85-30 in doubles.
The Eagles’ No. 2 doubles team, Erin Fekete and Rachel Ben, is 25-7. Tellefsen is 24-6 at No. 2 singles.
The winner of the UW-L-Grinnell match will face Carthage College on Saturday.
