" First of all, collection companies are vital to our economy. They help reduce loses to businesses of every kind and size and actually save every household in America hundreds of dollars a year. Without collection agencies businesses would have to raise their prices for all of us to cover the losses they face from people not paying their bills. Second, not all debt collectors are "swine". Contrary to outdated stereotypes, debt collectors today are committed to professionalism and ethical behavior. I have used several agencies in the past and most had a positive record in dealing with the people they contact. Not only will this company bring good jobs to the area, but companies like this are the ones that keep your credit rates down. "
STOP COMPLAINING!!!! wrote on Jun 4, 2007 7:52 AM:
" If the "average" person would look at how much money they have on a regular basis and live within their means (spend less than they earn) we would not need debt collectors. However, the "average" person tends not to do that so these types of jobs are a necessity.
They help protect the business owners large and small from what accounts to theft of products and services.
They generate additional spending in the community buying houses, food, cars, and entertainment and paying taxes. To often people are quick to criticize others.
I just wonder how many of the negative comments are generated by people that do not budget their money. Quit complaining and pay your bills.
“NO I AM NOT A BILL COLLECTOR AND NO, ONE HAS NEVER CALLED ME!”

RE: 4:16 poster- I don't think the other poster was bashing nurses at all, I just think they were saying that with all the hospitals/clinics in La Crosse and nearby it's good that there is another option other than healthcare because that field isn't for everyone. Who are you to say that they aren't educated enough? They could be a professional in a different field... "

It is just a JOB...and a job does not define a PERSON. Find something other than an occupation to define who you are, bill collector or not. "

" It seems some of you aren't happy unless you're complaining. Look, there are people who "can't meet their bills" no matter how hard they try (and I know some)... But there are also the ones who make good money but choose to spend, spend, spend, racking up more debt than they can pay (I know some of these also) -- and maybe even going into bankruptcy -- which in the end raises prices for all the honest folks. So if this new company goes after them, then we all benefit and should be happy to see new jobs coming to the area. "

A previous poster said it well, the middle class is disappearing, as inflation is rising faster than paychecks. I mean what do you have against people who work in health care? Those nurses went to school and earned their RN license, it is not their fault you are not educated enough to obtain employment. "

IC should talk to the Mayor and see if they can do some kind of land deal, maybe $1 for a building for 250 employees. "

If these agencies didn't resort to such low-life tactics, people wouldn't be so upset about having the white trash of the business world in their midst. But they must figure that with people as delusional as "ACLU" in the area, IC should be able to find people to work for them if they pass it off as "fundraising". Yep, in "ACLU"'s alternate reality, that just might fit. Any more like you at home, dude? "
