Without collection agencies businesses would have to raise their prices for all of us to cover the losses they face from people not paying their bills. Second, not all debt collectors are "swine". Contrary to outdated stereotypes, debt collectors today are committed to professionalism and ethical behavior. I have used several agencies in the past and most had a positive record in dealing with the people they contact. Not only will this company bring good jobs to the area, but companies like this are the ones that keep your credit rates down. "

" If the "average" person would look at how much money they have on a regular basis and live within their means (spend less than they earn) we would not need debt collectors. However, the "average" person tends not to do that so these types of jobs are a necessity. They help protect the business owners large and small from what accounts to theft of products and services. They generate additional spending in the community buying houses, food, cars, and entertainment and paying taxes. To often people are quick to criticize others. I just wonder how many of the negative comments are generated by people that do not budget their money. It's a job that puts you in a bad position because money (or the lack of) is a sensitive subject. RE: 4:16 poster- I don't think the other poster was bashing nurses at all, I just think they were saying that with all the hospitals/clinics in La Crosse and nearby it's good that there is another option other than healthcare because that field isn't for everyone.
