I got my first about 27 years ago. It was a rose with the name of the man I would two years later marry and am still married to. Each tattoo I have is a piece of art work; each represents something special in my life. I didn’t get tattoos because everyone else has them, a dare or even a static symbol. Some regret them later, I personally have never because I chose what would be on my body very carefully.
Yes, getting a tattoo can be painful depending on where they’re put and the person getting them. I think many will tell you a tattoo artist moves along and the area gets numb, but the next day is when it feels like a sunburn, then the itching begins as the tattoo heals. That’s a good thing.
I don’t believe God is going to hold it against me for putting tattoos on the body he gave me. You might also be surprised to know there are clergy who have tattoos, especially if they were in the military.
As for the tattoo artist, I definitely can tell you they don’t make a mountaintop living. Their work is a labor of love; they get paid like any employee and are thankful when left a tip.
I don’t feel I’ve wasted my money, and I still give to charity.
