Patricia M. Fulkerson
OAKDALE, Minn. — Patricia M. Fulkerson, 59, of Oakdale passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Haines; mother-in-law, Evelyn Fulker-son; and father-in-law, Wilbur Fulkerson.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jack; son, Paul (Rachael) Fulkerson; daughters, Leeann (Jason) Dunn and Shanna Fulkerson (Rick Fouks); grandchildren, Seth, Peyton, John, Natalie and Joseph; mother, Clarice (Glen) Bawek; siblings, Francis (Theresa) Haines, Marge (Tom) Patzner, Barb (Dave) Kissinger, Marie (Tom) Pronschinske, Marcus (Deb) Haines, Charlotte (Al) Semling, Virginette (Scott) Gamroth, Marcia (Norman) Benson and Kathy (Pete) Schank; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and many good friends.
Pat was taken from us much too soon and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 Fourth St. N., Oakdale. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave., St. Paul, (651) 776-1555, and also one hour prior to the Mass at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Guardian Angels Catholic Church.

ELEVA, Wis. — Cora Gunderson Heath, 83, of rural Eleva died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home in Whitehall, Wis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Bennett Valley Church in rural Eleva. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Edison Funeral Home in Independence, Wis., and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Edna M. Nelson
Edna M. Nelson, 92, of La Crosse died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem, Wis.
She was born May 23, 1915, in Winona, Minn., to John and Louise (Reick) Haack. She married Chester Nelson on July 15, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1995. Prior to her retirement, Edna had worked as a nursing assistant in the La Crosse area.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Swanson of La Crosse; a son, David (Sally) Nelson of Onalaska, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kelly (John) Kass, Kathy (Kevin) Zaininger and Kevin (Emiko) Nelson; seven great-grandchildren, Heather, Josh, Stephanie, Austin, Andrew, Evelyn and Danielle.
In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Swanson; a son-in-law, Melvin Swanson; and a brother, Herbert Haack.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse. The Rev. Roger Grow will officiate, and burial will be in French Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Richard L. Przywojski Sr., 83, of La Crosse passed away Monday, June 11, 2007, at Veteran’s Administration Hosp-ital in Tomah, Wis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. Friends and family may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Ellen M. Romas
WEST SALEM, Wis. — Ellen M. Romas, 86, of West Salem passed away in her sleep on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at her home.
She was born June 24, 1920, in the West Salem area to Morris and Ella (Nestvold) Munson. She married Edward V. Romas on July 28, 1945, in Milwaukee. She and her husband resided in Milwaukee, where Edward was distribution manager for American Motors for 28 years and Ellen was employed 26 years at Allis Chalmers as an expeditor. Upon retiring in 1970, they traveled for a year and settled in Green Valley, Ariz., for eight years. They then moved to Sun City West, Ariz., until Mr. Romas’ death in 1989. Ellen enjoyed life with great faith and was thankful for her many good friends and relatives.
Survivors include a stepsister, Marie Faas of Onalaska, Wis.; several special nephews and nieces; stepnephews and stepnieces; great-nephews and great-nieces; and many other special relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Luella Peterson; two stepsisters; and three step-brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 210 W. Hamlin St., West Salem. Father Bob Hegenbarth will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Richard ‘Richie’ Smieja
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. —Richard “Richie” Smieja, 75, of Independence died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1932, in Indepen-dence to Sylvester and Pelchie (Marsolek) Smieja. Richie served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a member of Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186 of Independence. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Richie owned and operated Sylver’s Bar and TV Sales and Service in Independence for many years and was a friend to all that knew him. When you met him — you knew him! He was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed his family and friends and lived his life to the fullest.
Survivors include three children, Timothy “Smutzy” Smieja of Galesville, Wis., Teri Smieja of Ettrick, Wis., and Leah Ann Terry of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother, Ralph (Georgia) Smieja of Waunakee, Wis.; a sister, Rosetta (Jim) Sonsalla of Plant City, Fla.; five grandchildren, Dustin and Katrina Smieja, and Tyler, Dylan and Caylin Kujak.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Adrian Smieja; and his daughter-in-law, Judith Smieja.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Indepen-dence, with the Very Rev. Douglas C. Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
