City shouldn’t start ambulance service

During the past few weeks, I have been asking people, if given a choice of which ambulance service to vote for, would you vote for the current service provided by Gundersen Lutheran Tri-State Ambulance or the city of La Crosse’s proposed ambulance service?

So far, no votes for the city of La Crosse.

Ask your friends the same question. Maybe it could be solved quickly with a referendum.

This seems to be a case of the city’s greed, not need. Why should the city compete with one of the largest employers in La Crosse?

When was the last time the city provided a better service than private enterprise?

The entire county currently has excellent service, including air service. Why create more adversity between city and county? Why change it, if it isn’t broken?

The city failed miserably as the ambulance provider for decades, let’s not repeat that mistake.
