“Not all the avenues have closed regarding the sale of the business, but without the pharmacy portion of the store in operation, the overhead has taken its toll on me financially, and I need to liquidate the merchandise and prepare for closure,” Miller said.
Miller, who has owned and operated the downtown store for 32 years, was forced to shut down the pharmacy portion of the business April 12 after the Wisconsin State Pharmacy Examining Board took disciplinary action against him.
There have been several inquiries, Miller said, but so far has not found a buyer.
“I wholeheartedly believe the city of Westby will have a pharmacy in the community down the line. I’ve worked day and night trying to secure a buyer for the business, hoping beyond hope that it wouldn’t come down to locking the doors,” Miller said. “Nothing has fallen into place though, so I had to take the next step.”
