Union State Bank President/CEO Diane Hicks Announces Retirement

Union State Bank President and CEO Diane Hicks has announced her retirement, effective July 1, 2007. Hicks has been President/CEO since 2004 and has molded Union State Bank into a modern financial institution with state-of-the-art technology and services. She will continue to be on the bank's Board of Directors. Hicks has been with Union State Bank since 1992. She is an honor's graduate from the National Bank Administration Institute's Community Bank Management Program and received her B.A. in Business Administration from Winona State University, MN. Hicks has served with the West Salem School Board, the CESA Board of Control and State Director for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. Hicks has been a mentor and instructor for the Wisconsin Finance Apprenticeship Program and was Chairman of the 1996 West Salem School District Planning Committee. She is a licensed real estate broker and serves on the West Salem Area Community Foundation Board. She and her husband Myron reside in West Salem, their hometown. A retirement Open House for the public is planned on Friday, June 29 from 11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Union State Bank in downtown West Salem.

Union State Bank Announces Staff Promotions

Union State Bank of West Salem has announced the following promotions: Steven L. Zeman has been appointed President, effective July 1, 2007. He has been Vice President and Chief Lender at Union State Bank since 2004 and has been responsible for the lending department at the bank. Zeman has been a community banker for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Union State Bank, he served as Vice President of Black River Country Bank in Melrose and Black River Falls from 1984 - 2004; Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for American Bank (now Bank of Alma); and Assistant Vice President of Ettrick State Bank (now United Bank). Jane R. Leis has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Cashier. She will oversee administration, operations, personnel and item processing. Leis has been Vice President Compliance/Technology since 2004 and has worked at the bank since 1995. Leis has 16 years of experience in community banking and completed the Wisconsin Bankers' Graduate School of Banking in 2003.

James L. Anderson has been promoted to Vice President. He has worked at the bank since 2006. As a community banker for more than 20 years, he has extensive knowledge in agricultural, real estate and consumer lending. Anderson will also serve as the security officer. Benjamin Mlsna has been promoted to Assistant Vice President and he will continue as Branch Manager at Union Station. Mlsna has been with Union State Bank since 2004 and has worked in the banking industry for eight years. He has extensive knowledge in the secondary market mortgage lending area and will also be involved in marketing functions. Union State Bank of West Salem is a $50 million community bank with two offices in West Salem, Wis. It has served the West Salem area for 104 years.

Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Welcomes Susan Halter, MD, MS

Susan Halter, MD, MS recently joined the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare.

Dr. Halter earned her medical degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing and completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Halter also earned a Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Washington, Seattle and a Masters of Science in Administrative Medicine and Population Health Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Dr. Halter is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the Wisconsin Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Prior to joining Franciscan Skemp, Dr. Halter practiced Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and was recently Medical Director of Neurosciences at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Dr. Halter and her husband, Mark, have three children. Dr. Halter enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking and reading.

Tammy Sullivan becomes an A.L.A. Lighting Specialist

Lighting Design by Wettstein's is proud to announce that Tammy Sullivan has achieved the status of Lighting Specialist by the American Lighting Association. Our Lighting Design sales team now consists of three Lighting Specialists and three Certified Lighting Consultants.

Prior to becoming a Lighting Specialist Tammy completed coursework in the many different applications of lighting. This study included proper placement of recessed lighting, proper use of direct and indirect lighting and the affects of color rendering in different lighting sources used. Other applications such as proper lighting of artwork, design and layout of lighting for a whole house, proper beam spreads of light sources and conveniences and capabilities of low-voltage lighting.

Tammy is available to assist you with all of your lighting needs at Lighting Design by Wettstein's, 300 Second St. N, in Downtown La Crosse.

GREGORY J. EGAN APPOINTED TO AMERICAN BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCATES

La Crosse Wisconsin attorney Gregory J. Egan has been selected as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. (ABOTA) ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to preserving the civil jury trial system. Heim published in Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law

Attorney Patricia M. Heim of O'Flaherty Heim Egan, Ltd. authored the chapter on Family Law in the recently published Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law, 2007. The Annual Survey is a publication of the Wisconsin Bar Association. Attorney Heim's chapter discusses significant decisions issued by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Wisconsin Appellate Courts and also discusses major statutory changes in the area of family law. Attorney Heim has authored this chapter for the Annual Survey for the past 18 years.

Attorney Heim limits her practice to the area of family law. She is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and in 2005 and 2006, was named one of the top 25 female "Super Lawyers" in the State of Wisconsin. Attorney Heim practices in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Ben Raymer Graduates from U.S. Border Patrol Academy

Ben Raymer, formerly of West Salem, Wisconsin, graduated from the 652nd Session of the

U. S. Border Patrol Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico, May 9, 2007. Raymer received a letter of commendation from the Chief of the Border Patrol Academy for highest merit in physical techniques. U.S. Border Patrol Agent Raymer has been assigned to a duty station in South Texas.

Raymer, a 1998 West Salem High School graduate and 2003 UW-L graduate, is the son of Bud and Jean Raymer, West Salem, Wisconsin.

Greg Lowe at Maplewood Imports

Greg Lowe has been in the automotive business since 1969 and continues to enjoy each and every day. "Cars have always been an interest of mine ever since I can remember. It is really exciting to see the changes and progress the automotive industry has made over the years."

Greg moved to La Crosse in 1976 and invested over 20 years selling vehicles and making many good friends. Over the years La Crosse became my home and will always be special. Now Greg has relocated to Hudson, Wisconsin and begins a new chapter in his life. Riverfront earns CARF Accreditation

Riverfront has earned a three year accreditation from CARF, a non-profit, independent organization that reviews and grants accreditation nationally and internationally for rehabilitation facilities. The three year accreditation is the highest ranking available.

CARF standards are rigorous, and the service-providers that meet them are considered among the best available. The achievement is an indication of Riverfront's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served.

CARF inspectors spent three days in May meeting with staff, board members, and persons served. The inspectors reviewed policies, procedures and safety standards. They looked at files, records and accounting procedures. In the accreditation letter, CARF said Riverfront's "services, personnel and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of practice excellence."

Dr. Scott Tyink Publishes Second Book For Middle School Educators

Dr. Scott Tyink, EdD, from La Crosse, WI and Linda Crawford from Minneapolis, MN recently authored Guidelines for Developmental Designs for Middle School 2. The new book will be used exclusively for weeklong educator workshops. The Developmental Designs approach uses best practices to integrate social and academic learning and is based in the science of young adolescent development. There will be several weeklong workshops in Developmental Designs this summer including training sites in Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Developmental Designs for Middle School affiliates with Responsive Classroom for elementary school educators, which originated in 1981 in Turners Falls, MA. Dahl Appointed District Sales Manager for Mutual of Omaha

Derek Dahl has been appointed district sales manager for Mutual of Omaha in La Crosse for the Eric Guth Division Office in La Crosse.

In his new position, Dahl will provide product and field training to the Company's sales representatives.

Dahl joined the Companies as a Sales Representative at the Eric Guth Division Office in La Crosse in 1999.

Mutual of Omaha is a full-service, multi-line organization providing insurance and financial services products for individuals, businesses and groups throughout the United States.

Guth presented international management award

Mutual of Omaha Company announces Eric Guth has been presented an International Management Award from GAMA. In March, GAMA celebrated its top managers at the annual meeting of the Leadership and Management Program

(LAMP) in Toronto. Eric Guth, the general manager with Mutual of Omaha in La Crosse received the Gold Financial Planning Award from GAMA.
