TOMAH, Wis. Bernice C. Kucera, 81, of Tomah and formerly of the Town of Arthur, Chippewa County, Wis., passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Serenity House in Tomah. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cadott, Wis. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, Wis. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, with a 7 p.m. rosary, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Norton Arnold Onstad
SPRING GROVE, Minn. Norton Arnold Onstad, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Spring Grove on July 11, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove, with Pastor Leonard Liptack officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.

Margaret Marcou Kiedrowski Brom
CENTERVILLE/TREMPEALEAU, Wis. Margaret Marcou Kiedrowski Brom, 90, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.
She was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Fairchild, Wis., to David and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Marcou. They later moved to La Crosse, where she graduated from Logan High School.
Margaret married Art Kiedrowski in 1937. They divorced in 1965. Art passed away in 1972. She married Cy Brom in 1966. Cy passed away in 2002.
Margaret was a hard worker all her life who loved life and her family very much. Many called her “one tough cookie.” She owned and operated Art’s Bar/Margaret’s Bar in Center-ville (now called the Sand Bar). She also worked at many bars and restaurants in the area.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Ruth (Tom) Snyder of Tempe, Ariz.; sons, Richard (Mary) Kiedrowski of Kingman, Ariz., David Tony (Julie) Kiedrowski of Trempealeau, Steve Kiedrowski (his friend, Julie) of Centerville, and Mike (Linda) Kiedrowski of Menasha, Wis.; six grandchildren, James (Nivia) Garlin, Corrine, Scott, Carrie, Ryan and Andy Kiedrowski; a great-granddaughter, little Maddie; a sister, Alice Long of Lakewood, Calif.,; a brother, Dave Marcou Jr. of La Crosse; and one long lasting hug for a fantastic friend, Darlene Sommers of Trempealeau.
For the final time, Margaret says goodbye and farewell to her family and friends with a big thank you to Marinuka Manor Nursing Home in Galesville. They were so good to her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosemary Trowbridge; a brother, Jim Marcou; an infant son, Ronald Lee Kiedrowski; and her husbands.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, Trempealeau, with the Rev. Valentine Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the church, with an 8 p.m. rosary, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel assisted the family.
The world has lost a remarkable woman.

MERRILLAN, Wis. Ricky D. Eddy Sr., 47, of Merrillan, died Wednesday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery, both in Merrillan. Steven H. Meyer
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga./TOMAH, Wis. Steven H. Meyer, 58, of Douglasville, Georgia and formerly of Tomah died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1948, to Howard and Mary (Robarge) Meyers at Black River Falls, Wis. He attended schools in Tomah and was a member of the Tomah Senior High graduating class of 1967. He was united in marriage to Kim Pratt on
Feb. 17, 1999, at Key West, Fla. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post 201 in Tomah. He had worked as an electrician for Best Power at Necedah, Wis. He also owned Our Place in Oakdale, Wis., and later the bar was called Pratt’s Place. He sold the business in April. He and Mary moved to Georgia in March.
Steve was an avid NASCAR and local race fan. He liked hunting and went on several hunting excursions. Most of all, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; two children, Stephanie Holt of Adams, Wis., and James (Michelle) Eagleson of Tomah; granddaughter, Morgan; his mother, Mary of Tomah; two sisters, Madeline (Robert) Storkel and Elizabeth (Robert) Bruder, both of Tomah; two brothers, Gael (Elizabeth) of Onalaska, Wis., and Richard (Dorothy) of Tomah; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Alan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St., Tomah. Pastor Walter DeVoe will officiate. Burial, with military honors by Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post 201, will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

OAKDALE, Wis. Helen Mary Olson, 81, of Oakdale died Friday, July 20, 2007, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse. A funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. Paul F. Hummel
GALESVILLE, Wis. Paul F. Hummel, 65, of Galesville, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 22, 1942, in Chicago, the child of F. Merle and Genevieve (Churchill) Hummel. After high school, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He married Susan B. Young in St. Charles, Ill., on Nov. 15, 1966.
Paul was employed with Burlington Northern Railroad as an engineer and later with the school district of La Crosse as a teaching assistant.
Paul was an active member of his community, serving on the G-E-T School Board, deputy coroner for Tremp-ealeau County and a volunteer firefighter for the city of Galesville. His most satisfying accomplishment in the community was the role he played in bringing the first responders to the G-E-T area.
After retirement, he pursued his passion for fishing and hunting.
Paul is survived by Susan, his wife of 40 years; five daughters, Barbara (Peter) Grollo, Villa Park, Ill., Donna (Frank) Rubino, Orlando, Fla., Theresa (Bradley) Bender, Galesville, Patricia (Sheldon) Olson, Galesville, and Deborah (Curt) Mayfield, Florissant, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren, Phillip, Anthony and Peter Jr. Grollo, Rose Marie, Joseph and Nicole Rubino, Brendt and Brendon Bender, and Makaila and Tyler Olsen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Paul will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galesville, with the Rev. Malin officiating. Burial will be at Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Zwickey Funeral Home in Galesville, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Arvie L. Hill
BLAIR, Wis. Arvie L. Hill, 91, of Blair, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Arvie was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Lake Norden, S.D., to Otto and Louise (Jager) Hill. He married Lorraine Linberg on April 29, 1939, in Iowa. Arvie and Lorrraine farmed in Milbank, S.D., until 1959 when they moved to Blair. Lorraine preceded Arvie in death on
Nov. 21, 1984. Arvie married Corrine Hanson on Oct. 18, 1986, in Blair.
Arvie did carpentry work and enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Arvie is survived by his wife, Corrine; a son, Larry (Ollie Jo) Hill of Blair; a granddaughter, Patti Jo (friend, Craig Monson) Hill of Eau Claire, Wis.; three stepchildren, Karen (Les) Moen of Altoona, Wis., Terry (JoAnn) Beaty of Blair, and Stephanie (Roger) Rumstick of Osseo, Wis.; 11 stepgrandchildren; 27 stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Arvie was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Dale; a daughter, Linda; two brothers, Omar and Milton; a sister, Lillian Wendland; and a stepson, Jeffrey Beaty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, in the First Lutheran Church in Blair with Pastor Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in the Fagernes Lutheran Cemetery in rural Blair. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 22, in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, and also one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be designated to the First Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.
