Published - Sunday, September 09, 2007 College roundup: Eagles remain unbeaten COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The UW-La Crosse volleyball team still is perfect after eight matches. The Eagles wrapped up the Colorado College Tournament on Saturday with two more victories. UW-L defeated Whitman College 30-22, 30-10, 30-23, and also defeated Webster University 30-22, 30-23, 30-13 to improve to 8-0. UW-L’s Amber Schoonover, a Tomah High School graduate, finished with 29 kills in the two matches. Nina Walch finished with 25 kills, and Samantha Dries finished with 96 assists. VITERBO: Viterbo continued its impressive early-season play, sweeping a pair of matches at the Gustavus Adolphus tournament in St. Peter, Minn. The V-Hawks (7-3) beat Martin Luther College of New Ulm, Minn., 30-26, 30-23, 24-30, 30-20 in its first match. Viterbo then beat Gustavus Adolphus for the first time in school history. Former Sparta standout Alicia Hynek recorded 11 blocks as Viterbo beat Gustavus Adolphus 23-30, 30-26, 30-27, 30-22. The Gusties were 6-1 entering the match. Two V-Hawks — Heather Harelstad and Missy Glenna — were named to the all-tournament team. Harelstad had 84 digs in four tournament matches, while Glenna had 72 digs and 45 kills. Overall, Tomah graduate Abby Breitung led the V-Hawks in kills (48) in the tournament.
