Pertzsch Design Receives State Certification as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise
The Wisconsin Department of Commerce has certified Pertzsch Design, Inc., a La Crosse-based interior design firm, as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). Information regarding Pertzsch Design's services will be electronically listed for use by any public or private entity seeking women-owned firms for contracting opportunities. This three year certification of eligibility is valid until July 24, 2010.
According to Kathryn Pertzsch-Cottrell, president of Pertzsch Design, Inc., "There are many situations where a potential client would prefer to work with a woman-owned firm. In some circumstances, there is a requirement that a contract use a woman- or minority-owned firm. This certification positions us to maximize the benefits of our status as a woman-owned business."

• Autumn (Zietlow) Tellier, CPA, was promoted to audit and assurance supervisor. Autumn graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She earned her Certified Public Accountant license in 2005. She is a member of the WICPA and AICPA and is active in the La Crosse area as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
• Jennifer (Kraus) Burns, CPA, was promoted to audit and assurance senior associate. In 2003, Jennifer received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. She earned her Certified Public Accounting license in 2005 and is a member of the AICPA.
• Tara (Jentz) Johnson, CPA, was promoted to audit and assurance senior associate. Tara graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2004 with Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting and finance. She joined the firm in 2005 and earned her Certified Public Accountant license in 2006. She is a member of the AICPA and WICPA and is also a member of the La Crosse area Jaycees.

JOSEPH VEENSTRA APPOINTED AS COURT COMMISSIONER
La Crosse County Circuit Court Judge Elliott Levine has appointed Joseph Veenstra as a supplemental court commissioner. Veenstra is an attorney with Johns, Flaherty & Collins.
As a supplemental court commissioner, Veenstra will perform limited judicial and quasi-judicial functions under the direction and authority of the chief judge and circuit court judges for La Crosse County.
Veenstra has been practicing law for nine years, focusing on litigation, personal injury, insurance defense, employment law, and criminal defense.
In addition to his law practice, Veenstra is actively involved in the community. He serves on the public policy committee for the Greater Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association and is a member of the Local Leadership Council for its La Crosse office. He is a board member of the Coulee Region Business Center, Inc., and a graduate of the Greater La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Welcomes Sarah Suarez, PA-C to General Surgery
Sarah Suarez, PA-C recently joined the Franciscan Skemp General Surgery Department as a Physician Assistant.
Sarah recently earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse/Mayo School of Health Sciences/Gundersen Lutheran Physician Assistant Program.
She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Prior to her education in Physician Assistant Studies, Sarah worked as a statistician for the US Geological Survey in La Crosse, WI.

Stephanie O'Bryant, FNP, recently joined the Franciscan Skemp Sparta Campus as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She joins Family Physicians Drs. Joseph Lehner, Laurie Logan, Marc Tumerman, Tracy Warsing and Family Nurse Practitioner Alice Bachop in the clinic.
Stephanie earned her Master of Science degree in the Family Health Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She has received her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to joining the Franciscan Skemp Sparta Campus, Stephanie worked at the Franciscan Skemp La Crosse Campus on 7th Medical for five years. As a physician assistant in the Gundersen Lutheran Radiation Oncology Department, Amber cares for patients with many types of cancer. She finds radiation oncology particularly interesting because of the varying types of patients who are treated and the advancements in technology in the field. She's grateful to have the opportunity to work for a nationally recognized cancer center and is looking forward to learning not only from the staff, but also her patients.

Deb Simon, MD, joins Gundersen Lutheran Obstetrics & Gynecology
Dr. Simon enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, but she has a special interest in gynecologic oncology and hopes to participate in caring for this patient population at Gundersen Lutheran. As a physician who recently completed her residency training, she's looking forward to developing relationships with her own patients at Gundersen Lutheran.
It was her residency experience at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Hospitals and Clinics that helped guide her to La Crosse. Dr. Simon is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Herlitzka Appointed Court Commissioner

Sara Allen Sattler has joined the staff of Julie's School of Dance as a featured instructor. She brings a wealth of enthusiasm, professional experience, and familiarity working with young dancers.
Born in Orange County, CA, Sara has danced for Disney and performed in Sesame Street productions. She was accepted into the Orange County High School for the Performing Arts, performed with the San Francisco Ballet Company, and the American Ballet Theatre in New York City. She has choreographed for a production at the Commonweal Theatre, and taught master classes there and at Luther College.
