KQEG-TV working to fix transmission problems

.
KQEG-TV officials in La Crosse hope that TV viewers with antennas will once again be watching its regular schedule of programs, in the next few weeks. They’ve mostly been seeing infomercials.

Since a lightning strike in August damaged equipment at the station’s transmitter near Hokah, Minn., area Charter Communications subscribers have continued to see the station’s regular programming, KQEG principal owner Eleanor St. John said Tuesday. Charter gets a feed directly from the station’s studio in La Crosse.
But until the damaged equipment is repaired and put back in place, the transmitter is unable to receive a signal from the studio. Other programming, mainly infomercials burned onto DVDs, has been broadcast over the air directly from the transmitter site for TV viewers who use their own antenna.

Some parts had to be manufactured for the damaged equipment, St. John said.

" I think these people need to get better equipment or new engineers.::: This is the second time in a year that the Transmitter site has been damaged by lightning.::: They never mentioned the problem last year; A posting by an engineer for another local station at avsforum.com* explained the sitution.:::...:::*On the website, click on "Forums" at the top, then, under "HDTV" check "Local HDTV Info and Reception", then "United States THREAD INDEX - find your local discussion thread HERE"(use the sort by city ["state"] in the second half of the listings), see the "La Crosse {area} thread".::: NOTE, this site has been seriously re-designed recently, and I don't guarantee you'll find specific posts in the older pages.:::... :::W_T_T.
