" Britwitch, Merry Meet. I take it you're drawn here by the occasional need to advocate for our kind. Fair enough. Me too. But I don't live in the area, and I wouldn't be helping myself or anyone else by blindly taking on a stranger's karma. If the remarks about cursing and abuse are true, there is harmful behavior in play that ought not be defended; if false, a nice woman is getting libeled. Either way, I don't choose to embrace irresponsible behavior as representing me. My path is about embracing personal responsibility, something many fail to recognize in minority groups. An occasional Pagan Bill Cosby to balance out the Al Sharptons might not hurt. Blessings. "

" its not about what you think is weird or not. fear of the onknown will always scare non-believers. the pictures of the typical witch scare people off. that's not what we look like, not what we do, we are good people and we deserve the right to express ourselves as much as anyone from any other religion or belief does.we deserve the right to own our own business. how do you know your not sat next to a pagan (witch) in your office everyday??? everytime halloween comes round..... someone, somewhere picks on a local witch...... maybe this year you could just say hello....or be nice. " I'm fairly curious if any of the indignant folk defending Ms. Isreal have ever even been to Melvina. Go take a look for yourselves before thinking that the local townspeople are narrow-minded and without cause for their irritation. I think most objective and reasonable people would see how it would be extremely annoying to live next to her. It has nothing to do with her 'religion'. Go look for yourself. And she has a very un-neighborly reputation. It's rather funny to hear her self-promotion of what she's done for the poor children in the area (oh gag me). We should all be taking care of the area needy (and I can think of a lot of people that do, and don't have to talk about it). It's what small town living is about. "

" It would be refreshing to read a story revealing the other side of this wonderful misunderstood woman who only wants to help the underprivileged. Any person who disagrees with her is bombarded with ranting hysterics and is hexed. She screams obscenities at her ex-husband at all hours of the night. She tells the neighborhood CHILDREN that she cursed three people and made them die, as all kindly women do. She and her family have made a mockery of our justice system with their lawsuits, a matter of public record, look it up. Her “wolves” are the nicest creatures she owns. Her Doberman recently breached the window of her van and bit a gas station attendant (who did not sue her, by the way). Anyone who visits this store had best wear Kevlar and bring a lawyer. They will likely need both. "

" I don't know anything about this Witch, and with all due respect to the Tribune, I don't presume to know her from the article. I've seen how someone can get misrepresented for shock value, either through unreliable or out-of-context quotes, or through pictures that, for all I know, are of an intended promotional Halloween costume. But I can tell you the image thing is often a thorn in the side for the many of us who quietly practice our craft and honor the Goddess and God while working for a living and contributing to our communities. And for what it's worth, I'm a pretty regular guy (not green or a famous soul) whose profession depends on being a positive role model. Eccentricity is cool, but behavior has consequences (key theme in magickal thinking), and some of us odd folk would prefer not to be thrown under the bus. Blessings. "

It doesn't take an eighth grade education to figure her out,it's not about her essenctic ways at all, if that's what you call it, it's
called deception....please don't fall into her trap, like so many have.....She's Scary
Allright! "

" What does the color of someone's house have to do with anything? People, pick your battles. After all, this country still enforces freedom of religion. Point #1- 90% of the world believes in a power greater than themselves, no matter what name they give it. Open your minds and maybe, MAYBE, the next generation will be more tolerable of individuality. Quit being so ethnocentric. When you're ready to learn something about the rest of the planet and not your "own" little waste of space, than how about accepting the fact that you cannot do anything about this woman and what she believes. You are helpless agaist her, not because she claims to be a witch, but because the laws in this country protect her. The same way they protect you. I wish all of you fifteen minutes of fame so you can get nasty comments. Oooops. Is that a hex? HA! "

" You're all hypocrites! Is this one woman really going to be such a bad influence on the entire county of Monroe? If you think that then it's YOU who is going to give her that ability. Live and let live. God loves EVERYONE, remember? To all of you Catholics out there, and I many in my family, LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Don't pass judgement. I commend the lady for wanting to help children and just because she's eccentric doesn't mean she's devient. I believe if you want to make a negative comment regarding someone else's interests, you should have to be educated beyond the eighth grade AND lived some place other than Monroe county. Love to all. " Sounds like the "purple lady", as some call her, continually goes out of her way to attract attention. I agree with Leapfer - her properties are definitely an eyesore! As for the cell phones, berkshire bull, it's merely coincidental. She obviously thrives on comments like that. As for helping children, I have to see it to believe it. As for her supposedly moving to NY - it just couldn't come soon enough! Maybe Melvina could be a pleasant community again. "

" I'm not surprised the locals don't like her. Would you like that mess living next to you?? It's nice to follow your dreams and all, but not when it wrecks your neighbor's 'dreams'. It is exactly why all those crappy neighborhood associations are popping up everywhere. No one wants a big cluttered black and purple house to look at through their windows. (and now two other similar properties). Why can't people like her find a nice isolated spot to do that? Poor Melvina. It used to be such a cute little town. It's an absolute eyesore now. Who cares what religion she is? I don't think anyone really cares about that. I'm all for eccentric, but good grief.... "

" Thanks for publishing the kind story about The Twilight Zone Ryan. I enjoyed reading about Israel's new venture and I appreciate our freedom to speak, honor and worship without prejudice in America.
My very best wishes to those who bravely follow their heart's dream for they typically step over a pile or two along the way which requires heartfelt compassion and integrity rare to witness in my humble opinion.
Kudos Israel for proposing future gifting to those less fortunate. Peace be with you and best wishes.

Is Isreal so independently wealthy that she can afford to open a shop that is destined for immediate failure, or is she collecting SSI for her mental disability? "
