DPC was asked at the Oct. 6 informational meeting (Volden Brothers Farm) if ash was the only waste dumped at the Alma site. DPC representatives stated over and over that Alma was a monofill site and only ash was dumped there.
Yet, later in the meeting, they were confronted with a request to the DNR, generated by DPC, to dump asbestos at the Alma site. Wendy Berndt replied, “I think that was a one-time thing,” and Chuck SansCrainte said, “If we have something small, if it is permitted, we will do it, but then DNR says you have to encapsulate it, it has to be in bags, triple-bagged and mark the location of where it is at.” Wait a minute, is Alma a monofill site with only ash being dumped there or isn’t it?
I confronted DPC Representatives with this discrepancy and not one of the DPC representatives said a word. Is this the emphasis on honesty so described in the DPC values statement?
Dairyland Power, please, exceed my expectations and walk the talk, “Emphasizing honesty, quality and other sound business principles.”
