" Let me clear up a few misconceptions for you. PSB is one of the smallest craft breweries in the country. Far smaller and less mass produced than Red Seal. The ingredients in all PSB beers are as follows: fresh malt, fresh hops, yeast and water from La Crosses aquifer. These ingredients are not only the same as they were in 1999, but they come from the same farms and growers. The "high end" prices referred to are appropriate for any hand-made product, as there is much more manual labor involved in the brewing and packaging of hand-made products, not to mention the ingredients in the PSB beers are amongst the most expensive available. "

" dear lax local..you obviously dont have any clue what your talking about. first of all the beer is made with exactly the same ingredients as it was from the beginning. and secondly MASSED PRODUCED? ya mite wanna check the brewery out and see for yourself how its "MASS PRODUCED".. so to laxlocal i say this be a great laxlocal and drink beers made in different towns and distributed by huge companys making 1000s of dollars "

" A small business owner with great success in La Crosse, and all I see is complaining. Such bitter people, can't enjoy someone elses success.
I've known Joe since the day he walked into town, and he's always made a great product. It's a true testament to his dedication to La Crosse; that he not only increased the size of his business to accomodate the mass demand of his product, he kept it in town (tax base) and he made a great product while having to source it out as he expanded.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. But really, no need to bash him, he's come a long way!!
Congrats JOE!!! "

" nice try Now What. My point was PSB has lost its original small batch ingredients that gave it a unique quality experience. I was at the grand opening with the Mayor 8years ago, where were you? The Pale was by far my favorite but Red Seal, Hopaliscious, and Alfa King definately surpass the bland Pale. Everything changed when Black River Brewery was brewing PSB during construnction and the unique qualities that made PSB great have gone. "

" now what. I was refering to the difference between todays Pale and DTB compared to the original PSB brews of 1999. You were probably still in High School then but ask around and people will tell you the small batch quality was far supperior. The "high end" prices you refer to should not apply to a local brew. This is Lax not Madtown, MKE or MNPLS. Plus delivery is only blocks away instead of hundreds of miles. Keep it local! "

" To laxlocal: When was the last time you priced anything besides a Miller or Bud product? PSB is very competitive with other high end brews. If you don't like it, don't drink it. And to leonidas: Did you even read the article? It states, "The business opened in 1999 in the basement of the Bodega Brew Pub at 122 S. Fourth St. in downtown La Crosse." You know, 4th and Pearl. Hence, Pearl Street Brewery. A small group of really good people do something great for the community and all some people can do is bitch about it. "

" Okay, Pearl Street Brewery is located on St. Andrew St.? I see... "
laxlocal wrote on Nov 16, 2007 12:53 PM:
" The PSB products are nothing like they once were. Joe has gone to mass produced commercial ingrediants amd the quality has suffered. DTBrown is nothing like the original and the Pale is pale indeed compared to the gold medal winner of years past. With grains raising in price to fuel alternatives that Joe supports, his beer will be overpriced for the blue collar life he portrays himself live. "

" Kudos to Joe, Tami, Brent, Eric, Nick, and all others at the PSB. A fine example of hard work paying off. Without mentioning which bar I own, three of my six taps are Pearl Street products because of demand. See you all tonight. "

Can't wait to visit the shop! "
