Cleaning clothes with holiday cheer

.
Crystal Marsh said she doesn’t get stressed out by the extra loads of clothes dropped off at Sew Clean laundry service this time of year.

“We just work faster and harder,” said Marsh, who works at the 620 Cass St. location

The business, which also has a location at 2845 Midwest Drive in Onalaska, Wis., does dry cleaning, alterations, bridal gown preservation, pillow restoration and laundry.

During the summer, an average of about 850 items a week are brought in for cleaning at both locations, said Marsh, 37. That picks up to about 1,100 during the winter; last week, 1,700 pieces were dropped off.

During the holidays, people often want their clothes dry cleaned right away, Marsh said, which she tries to accommodate.

“I enjoy my job,” she said. “I like dealing with people and there are challenges, like trying to make sure you can get the spots out.”
