Margaret Ann (DeWolf) Potaracke, 80, of La Crosse passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse. Funeral services will be announced by Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, La Crosse.

Norman Hagen

WESTBY, Wis. — Norman Hagen, 80, of Viroqua, Wis., and formerly of Westby died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Westby. Burial will be in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Jason Frederick Eckdahl

TOMAH, Wis. — Jason Frederick Eckdahl, 26, of Tomah died Jan. 31, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Nazarene, 25481 Hwy. ET, Tomah. Pastor James Leston will officiate. Burial will be in the Warren Mills Cemetery in Warrens, Wis. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 East Monowau St., Tomah, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

Emma Joyce Dalberg

YUBA, Wis. — Emma Joyce Dalberg, 70, of Yuba died of cancer on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at her residence.

She was born on Dec. 26, 1937, in De Soto, Wis., the daughter of Earl and Lydia (Hartley) Yanske. Emma’s grandparents were William and Alice Hartley and William and Allie Yanske. Emma was united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1965, in Gillingham, Wis., to Don Dalberg Sr. Emma loved quilting, her flowers and yard. She farmed for 20 years, waitressed at Park Hotel in Richland Center, Wis., for eight years, worked at Northern Plastics for 11/2 years and also did home care for the Bethel Home of Viroqua and cleaned many houses.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Dalberg Sr., of Yuba; five children, Patricia (Hugh Sr.) Oliver of Viola, Wis., Kenneth Dalberg, Shirley (Bernie) Dalberg of Yuba, Donald K (Rene’) Dalberg Jr. of Yuba, Stacey (Jeff) Sobczak of Yuba; three stepchildren, Mitchell Dalberg of Tomah, Wis., Nancy (Jim) Miller of Hillsboro, Wis. and Randy Dalberg of Yuba; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Hilda Morkrid of West Salem, Wis., two brothers, Ben Yanske of Gillette, Wyo., and Michael Yanske; also survived by aunt, Erma Chronger; uncle, Kenneth Hartley; and special aunt and friend, Bernice Beckwith of La Farge, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul Yanske and William Yanske; two sisters, Sheila Kniefl and Mona Green; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Picha Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Barbara Miller officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Vernon Cemetery in West Lima, Wis. Margaret Ann Grelle

Margaret Ann Grelle, 63, of La Crosse, “Peggy” to her family and Mrs. Grelle to her many students at St. Pius and Aquinas Middle School from the years 1972 until 2005, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at her home.

Peggy was born June 14, 1944, (Flag Day), in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Lyle and Juanita (Foss) Johnson. She graduated with honors from Prairie du Chien High School in 1962 and later graduated with honors from UW-L with a BS in education. Her vocation was teaching elementary and middle school students. On June 20, 1964, she married John C. Grelle in Prairie du Chien.

Peggy is survived by her husband, John; her sons, Michael (Dawn) Grelle and their children, Heather and Matthew of Madison; and Christopher (Bridget) Grelle and their children, Aidan and Bryce of Stoddard, Wis.; her brothers, Kenneth (Faye) Johnson and his family, and James (Teri) and his family; her favorite and devoted sister, Nancy (Bill) Stuart, and their son, Tom, all of the Prairie du Chien area; two brothers-in-law, Fred (Barbara) Grelle and their family of Madison, and William (Mary) Grelle and their family of Onalaska, Wis.; and one sister-in-law, Martha (Jack) Finn and their family of Grande Ledge, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. The Rev. David C. Kunz will officiate. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. on Monday at Woodruff-Jandt Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Aquinas Middle School.

Ralph O. Bergum

VIROQUA, Wis. — Ralph O. Bergum, 91, of Viroqua died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Vernon Manor in Viroqua.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1916, to Ragna Bergum. He farmed during his early adult years and later moved to Beloit, Wis., where he worked for many years at Fairbanks-Morse. He moved back to the Viroqua community where he lived the remainder of his life. He married Aleda T. Nelson in the fall of 1943, and together they had one daughter and three sons before later divorcing. Ralph was a free spirit who loved the outdoors and the simple things in life. He rode thousands of miles on his bicycle, in and around the Viroqua area, and this may be one of the reasons he lived a long and healthy life.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Bergum of Red Wing, Minn., Don (Mary) Bergum of Tomah, Wis.; one granddaughter, Britney Bergum of Madison; one grandson, Chad Bergum of Appleton, Wis.; one great-grandson, Tyler Bergum of Tomah, Wis.; and one stepbrother, Merlin Mageland of Viroqua, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sharon Bergum; and one son, Richard Bergum.

“May God bless you and keep you, may his light shine down upon you and give you peace.” Amen.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker St. (Hwy. 56) in Viroqua. Nathan Prong, minister, will officiate with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Charlene (Richter) Stafford

SPARTA, Wis. — Charlene (Richter) Stafford, 81, of Sparta and formerly of Janesville, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Torkelson Funeral Home, Ontario, Wis. Pastor Bruce Milleman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario. Ruby F. Rodenberg

LAKE MILLS/WAUNAKEE, Wis. — Ruby F. Rodenberg, 61, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Facility.

She was born on June 24, 1946, in Sparta, Wis., the daughter of Albert and Ruby Pulham. On March 30, 1968, Ruby was united in marriage to Larry Rodenberg at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Mindoro, Wis. Ruby had a strong Lutheran faith and donated her time to help support Lakeside Lutheran High School. She was a member of the Lakeside Ladies Guild and worked in refunding and at the resale store for many years with her friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Larry Rodenberg of Waunakee; two sons, Stacy Rodenberg and Joseph Rodenberg; five sisters, Tillie, Mary, Dora, Alberta and Alyce; and three brothers; Floyd, James and Dewey. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; and brother, Walter.

Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Facility, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at the HospiceCare Facility for all the care and support given to Ruby and her family over the past year.

Edna J. Hengel

Edna J. Hengel, 77, of La Crosse died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Bethany Riverside. Private services will be held and a complete obituary will follow. The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.

Eleanor Lloyd

Eleanor Lloyd, loving mother and grandmother, of St. Paul and formerly of the Sparta, Wis., area, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, three sisters and five brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn; three grandsons, Chris, Dominiq and Wyatt; one sister; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Kevin’s Church in Melrose, Wis., (608) 488-3001.

Lucile F. Goltz

Lucile F. Goltz died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Rehab Center in La Crosse after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 94.

Lucile was born June 27, 1913, to Eva and Clarence Uplinger in Sherburn, Minn. She attended Sherburn schools along with two years of teachers college in Mankato, Minn., but did not teach.

She married James McCellan in 1931 and had one child. The marrige later ended in divorce.

Lucile found a challenging job and new life interest in working with students at Macalester College while earning credits to obtain her bachelor’s degree, before retiring in 1981.

In 1981 she married Sanford Goltz who had previously retired from editorial work at the La Crosse Tribune. They lived for some years in Arkansas before settling in St. Paul. Lucile and Sanford moved to La Crosse in 2006.

Lucile is survived by her husband, Sanford Goltz of La Crosse; a son, Richard; two grandchildren, Brian and Eva McClellan; and a great-granddaughter, Caitlin, all from St. Paul. Also surviving are a niece, Sharon Kemmerer of Bethlehem, Pa.; and a nephew, William Uplinger of California.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Charles and Willard; and her first husband.

As Lucile requested, there will be no services.

Edith Leone Berry

FORT WORTH, Texas — Edith Leone Berry, 85, of Fort Worth and formerly of La Crosse passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Autumn Leaves Home in North Richland Hills, Texas. Edith was born in La Crosse on Feb. 23, 1922, to Roy and Leona Collins. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1939. She married Leo B. Berry on May 30, 1941.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Carol Marco.

She is survived by a sister; Ruth (Duane) Sackett of Independence, Wis.; son, James of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Bonnie (Gary) Hesse of Hudson, Wis., Susan (Carl) McGuire of North Richland Hills, Sharon (Dale) Fundum of Findlay, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. S., in La Crosse. The Rev. David Olson will officiate, with interment at Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. S., La Crosse.

Florence M. Klink

ARCADIA, Wis. — Florence M. Klink, 91, of Arcadia died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Medical Center in Arcadia.

She was born March 19, 1916, in Fairchild, Wis., to Henry and Mary (Mlynek) McDavis. On Sept. 25, 1933, Florence married Anthony Klink at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence, Wis. He died Jan. 27, 1987.

Florence had been baptized at St. John’s Church in Fairchild. She attended SS Peter & Paul grade school and high school in Independence. From 1938 until her retirement, Florence worked as a sales/buyer representative for Herrick-Skogmo in Arcadia. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia.

Florence enjoyed gardening, canning her produce, and tending to her flowers. She loved animals and, along with bird watching, took pleasure in watching squirrels. She also loved spending time with people, especially going out to eat with her family. Florence had a fondness for news programs, particularly CNN, and she was very proud of her newly refinished apartment.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee (Don) Slaby of Arcadia, and Ruth (Ray) Landry of St. Cloud, Minn.; two sons, Donald Klink of Arcadia and Allen Klink of Colfax, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Cindy (David) Lampl, Sandy Kiffmeyer, Dave Landry, Debbie Klaser, Cheryl (John) Fernandez, Lori Repinski, Roxanne Oliver, Kathy Aspen, Ronald Klink, Robert Klink; and 12 great-grandchildren, Morgan, McKenzie, Jermey, Tasha, Chad, Coty, Garrett, Britta, Morganne, Samantha, Zach and Ryan.

Preceding Florence in death were her parents; husband, Anthony; and daughter-in-law, Betty Klink.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 4, at Holy Family Parish, with the Rev. Michael Klos officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. prayer service. They may also call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday at the church.

Casket bearers will be Dennis Aspen, Robert Klink, Ronald Klink, David Landry, Jermey Repinski, Ryan Oliver and Zach Aspen.

Memorials are preferred to “Family Wishes.”

Eugene ‘Gene’ C. Morey

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Eugene “Gene” C. Morey, 57, of Moorhead and formerly of La Crosse died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.

Eugene C. Morey was born on June 4, 1950, in La Crosse, to Herbert and Maryjane (Hefti) Morey. Eugene attended Logan High School and Western Wisconsin Technical School in La Crosse. He served in the U.S. Army and then returned to La Crosse, where he worked at the La Crosse Cooler Co. and FiveStar Telecom. Gene came to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1989 and worked for TCI as the lead tech for the V.A. Hospital. He later worked for Moorhead Electric and then Bergstrom Electric, where he was currently employed. He married Janette Pollock on Aug. 13, 2004, in Fargo.

He loved to fish and spend time at the lake. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He had been active in the Men’s Auxiliary at the Moorhead VFW. Gene was looking forward to retiring with Jan back home on the Mississippi River.

Gene is survived by his wife, Jan; two children, a son, Charles Eugene Morey, La Crosse, a daughter, Carrie Ann Morey, Viroqua, Wis.; and their mother, Kitty; a granddaughter, Hallie Sherry; grandson, Brett Morey; stepchildren, Tambi (Brett) Larson, and Shaun Pollock, Moorhead; brothers, Steve (Cheryl) Morey, Westby, Wis., Ken (Geri) Morey, La Crosse, John (Lisa) Morey, Valparaiso, Ind., Tim Morey, La Crosse; sisters, Jane (Larry) Thomas, Green Bay, Wis., Tammy (Pat) Keating, La Crosse; many nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins; special friend and “brother,” Steve (Patty) Aakre; and his god-daughter, Katie (Jeremy) Halvorson, Milwaukee.

Welcoming Eugene into heaven are his parents, Herbert and Maryjane Morey; Gracy Morey; and his grandparents; aunts; uncles and cousins.

There will be a celebration of Gene’s life from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at VFW Post 1530, La Crosse, with a luncheon to follow and with military rites to be held at 1 p.m.

Margaret A. Lang

Mrs. Margaret A. Lang, 77, died Feb. 1, 2008, after a short illness. Margaret was in the loving care of her children.

Born June 13, 1930, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Margaret was the second child of the late Daniel and Lorraine (Kolling) Gould. She was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee. She married C. James Lang of La Crosse in 1950. Margaret was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, The LeLeche League, Nokomis Grandmother’s Club, “The Shubert Girls,” the Blessed Sacrament Widow(er)’s Club, and several card clubs. She volunteered with the Blessed Sacrament Woman’s Club.

Margaret is survived by four children and their families: daughter, Rose Orgish and her husband, Ted, of Cudahy, Wis., son, Glen Lang and his wife, Barbara, of Cary, N.C., daughter, Shirley Abts and her husband, Dan, of La Crosse, and daughter, Mary Judy and her husband, Bill, of Riverside, Ill.; grandchildren, Katie, Jennifer and Julianne Orgish, Elizabeth Cummings (Jason), Dustin, Joshua and Brittany Lang, Michael, Michelle and David Abts, and Carolyn and Benjamin Judy; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Orgish-Czarnecki; brother, Joe Gould of San Bernadino, Calif.; and sister, Clara Piekarski of Milwaukee; cousin, Patrick Callahan and his wife, Teresa, of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2005; and her son, Charles (Butch) Lang in 2001. She will be remembered as an amazingly cheerful and optimistic spirit who found her greatest reward in caring for others.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 9, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. S., La Crosse, with burial to be held in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass Saturday at the church.

The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
