Information from the public led police to find the man who was at Casey’s General Store, 326 S. Black River St., just before the robbery about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The robber showed a knife and received an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk before he left on foot, Sparta police Chief Michael Kass said.
Police managed to track the robber’s footprints a couple of blocks, where it appears a vehicle picked him up, Kass said.
The other man, who drove away from the store just before the robbery, was picked up Monday morning in Sparta on unrelated charges. But police are questioning him about whether he had a role in the robbery, Kass said.
The robber is described as a black male, about 6 feet in height, who was wearing a black “Tony Montana” T-shirt and a black, zip-up jacket with a reversible orange liner. He also wore a bright blue stocking cap, black jeans and black athletic shoes, and has a pierced left ear.
