Sign of spring: Neighbors Day approaches
Snowbanks are high now, but in two months folks around the Coulee Region will be busy doing yard work and spring cleanup projects.
And if you are elderly or disabled, you can get your yard cleaned up after the long winter by volunteers April 19 during the annual Neighbors Day.
Event organizers, the La Crosse Jaycees, are now looking for project requests and applications from volunteer groups.
If you are a senior citizen or a disabled member of the
La Crosse community and need some assistance with yard work and outside projects to prepare your home for spring, submit a request for a group of volunteers to help you with your projects on April 19.
Eligible projects include raking yards, trimming shrubs, turning gardens and washing outside windows.
If you are an organization or group interested in volunteering, send in your contact information.
“Neighbors Day is a great way to celebrate the community of La Crosse by providing a much-needed service to elderly and disabled individuals,” said Project Coordinator Erin Behlen of the Jaycees. “So, throw on your work clothes, push up your sleeves and come down to
La Crosse City Hall on April 19 and give your neighbor a much-needed hand.”
Volunteers will register from 8 to 9 a.m. April 19 at La Crosse City Hall, then spread throughout the city to work on projects.
If you work up an appetite, no problem. A free lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. at City Hall.
