Plungers mark 10th year of charity for Special Olympics

.
Brrrrr ... These plungers were ‘freezin’ for a reason’ on Saturday during La Crosse’s 10th annual Polar Plunge at Black River Beach. The La Crosse event alone has raised more than $1 million for Special Olympics in the past 10 years. Plungers celebrated the 10-year anniversary with a super plunge where some participants jumped into the freezing water 10 times. Event organizers also recognized people that have plunged all 10 years.

" Did you not just read that $1 million dollars was raised over the last decade by the polar plunge for the special olympics? I'm sure these college kids worked plenty hard raising money for this cause and what is wrong with having a little fun after they are done rasing money? And college kids are going to drink, polar plunge day or not. Just remember that that dime you are not donating is a dime taken away from these special olympic children, not the 'drunkin college kids.' "

" I was eating lunch downtown yesterday and saw a bunch of college kids in costumes wasted at 1pm. I asked one of them what the costumes were for and she told me they were doing the Polar Plunge.
It appears this event is just a drunken brooha and won't be getting my dime any longer.
Isn't there a liability with letting people who are drunk participate in this? "

" Good job to all the plungers! "
