She was unable to continue to work after a long hospitalization and recuperation time, so instead she chose to volunteer her time working with the children at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Rosie was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on St. Mary’s Ridge.

She was always giving to others as she tried to protect wilderness places, improve literacy in her community and teach her children and grandchildren the beauty of our natural world. She leaves a poem of hope for you as one of her final gifts.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This to have succeeded.”

In lieu of flowers, June and her family ask that you send donations to the La Crosse Family YMCA for use in their children’s program.
