Published - Sunday, March 23, 2008 UW-L baseball wins final game of spring trip PHOENIX -- Sophomore Greg Gibson struck out nine batters in six innings as the UW-La Crosse baseball team beat Marian (Wis.) 7-4 Saturday to wrap up its spring trip. The Eagles (7-5) went 5-5 during their eight-day trip to Arizona. Gibson, a right-hander from Appleton, Wis., allowed one run on seven hits with no walks and improved to 2-0 this season. Also for the Eagles, Mike Schmidt hit two homers, Dusty Otto went 4-for-4 with a homer and a double and Storm Gram doubled twice. UW-L's home opener is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday against Saint Mary's (Minn.) but Eagles coach Chris Schwarz said it's unlikely the field will be ready in time because of the recent snowstorm.
