Voters to decide fate of GET land tonight

.
GALESVILLE, Wis. — Residents in the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District will get a chance tonight to vote on whether to sell two pieces of district property.

The district is seeking permission to accept bids on the Bender Farm property in the village of Caledonia and the Kindernook property in Galesville.
The Bender Farm land, originally bought as a potential site for a new middle school, has been leased for several years as farm land. Zoning issues forced the district to look for a new site, and with plans to build the middle school in the works, the property is no longer needed, though the district makes money by leasing it.

The Kindernook property houses all kindergarten classes in the district. When the middle school is built, kindergarten classes will be held at their respective elementary schools, rendering the building obsolete.

The public meeting is at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, 17511 N. Main St. Galesville.

Those wishing to vote must have proof they are district residents and eligible to vote in state, local and federal elections, though they do not have to be a registered voter.

Nolan Rosenkrans is a reporter at the Winona Daily News.

" re;the real world. Most likely the school district will get the money and hopefully it will be used to help pay for the $16,000,000 school they are building. "
