V-Hawks’ White wins fifth straight

.
Sophomore left-hander Drew White won his sixth game this season, allowing two runs on seven hits over 51/3 innings, and Shawn Loch drove in three runs as the Viterbo University baseball team beat Clarke 11-5 on Tuesday in an MCC game at the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The V-Hawks (24-8, 13-3) moved to within 1½ games of conference leader William Penn, which lost to eighth-place Mount Mercy 3-2. Viterbo has eight games remaining in MCC play.
VITERBO SOFTBALL: The V-Hawks gave up big innings in each game and were swept by Clarke, 7-2 and 9-3, in an MCC doubleheader.

Viterbo (7-23, 3-13) helped Clarke (13-15, 8-10) with five errors in the first game. The Crusaders used a six-run fifth inning to break the game open.

In the second game, Kacey Moline doubled and drove in two runs for Viterbo, which fell behind 7-0.

WESTERN BASEBALL: The Cavaliers fell to Milwaukee Tech, 7-4 and 1-0 in a WTCC doubleheader in Milwaukee.

Matt Ritter led Western’s effort, throwing eight strikeouts in Game 1 and batting 3-for-3 with two doubles in Game 2.

UW-L TENNIS: UW-La Crosse’s No. 1 doubles team of Carlie Bohrman and Sarah Schoenwaelder improved to 16-6 this season during the Eagles’ 6-3 nonconference loss to Luther (Iowa).

" Anyone watching the V-Hawks softball knows the problem lies with NO COACHING. The team has talent but NO coach to go with it. The lack of knowledge of the game and backbone to pull lazy players off the field. An infielder should not ever sit back and let a ball come to them and then try to rely on a weak arm to get the out. The Viterbo administration needs to relieve the head coach and one assistant who can not even bat a fly ball to the players. Please rebuild a strong SB program again!!! New coach for next yearwill make a great improvement! "
