Published - Sunday, May 11, 2008 Man wounded by Milwaukee police officer MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee police officer shot and wounded a man during the weekend, authorities said. Department spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said officers responding to a report of shots being fired found about 20 men getting ready to fight at a gas station parking lot Friday just before midnight. She said in a news release that a 20-year-old man reached into his waistband during a subsequent chase, crouched down and turned toward an officer, who then shot the man. The man, who is a known gang member, sustained what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries, Schwartz said. The 30-year-old officer who fired the shot was placed on administrative duty pending completion of the investigation, the department spokeswoman said.
