In Crawford County Circuit Court today, Iowa County Circuit Judge William Dyke sentenced Charles Black, 37, to 15 years on each count, followed by 15 years of extended supervision. The prison terms will be concurrent. Black must register as a sex offender and receive treatment.
A Crawford County jury convicted Black on April 3 after a weeklong trial. Black was jailed April 18 for conduct that included contacting a juror.
Black was charged after incidents March 5 and March 15, 2006. Court records say he had sexual contact with a 20-year-old Prairie du Chien woman on the first date and intercourse with her on the second. The woman’s mother told police her daughter has a diagnosed cognitive disability and the mental capacity of an 8- to 10-year-old.
