Southern stretch of West Avenue should reopen next week

.
Asphalt on West Avenue between Green Bay and Jackson Street should be completed by today, and that southern stretch should reopen by the end of next week, said officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Crosswalk, stopbars and other pavement markings likely will be completed on Monday, said Dale Merten WisDOT project manager. Installation of the traffic signal at Green Bay will begin Monday and continue through the week, he said.
On the northern portion of West Avenue, storm sewer installation and grading work is ongoing, Merten said. Crews also are expected to work on concrete pavement from Jackson to Cass Street on Monday and Tuesday.

" Obviously you have not walked the strech that is about to open. There is Blvd's on both sides with new sod put down just this week. "

" Has anyone noticed that there will not be USABLE sidewalks anymore?

The "boulevards" (as we here in the Upper Midwest call 'em), referring to the area between the street proper, and the adjacent sidewalk will no longer exist, making sidealks along West ave. TOTALLY unsafe.

Will you want to walk on them when there is pooled water after a rain all along the street?

OR when snow is plowed off the street, and despoited - where??? "
