UW-L’s first doctoral students to walk the stage Saturday

Thirty-eight students enrolled in UW-La Crosse’s new doctorate in physical therapy program will be among the 1,522 graduates receiving diplomas Saturday.

Launched just 34 months ago, the program is UW-L’s first post-graduate degree and the only such program in the UW System. Michelle Thorman, physical therapy program director, says it’s a strong job market for DPT grads. “Over half of them have already been offered jobs, and the others are certain to find employment soon after graduation.”

She attributes that number to UW-L’s widely regarded reputation as one of the most respected physical therapy programs in the United States. While job opportunities exist across the country, it is anticipated that 60 percent of DPT graduates will stay in Wisconsin.

UW-L’s 99th spring commencement ceremonies in Mitchell Hall Gymnasium will include:

• 9 a.m. - College of Business Administration (212 students)

• 11 a.m. - College of Liberal Studies (443 students)

• 2 p.m. - Graduate Studies (414 students)

• 5:30 p.m. - College of Science and Health (464 students)

The ceremonies will be Webcast and cablecast. View any of the commencement ceremonies at www.uwlax.edu/edtech/graduation. Cablecast of the ceremonies is on Charter Cable TV-6. Charter subscribers in Holmen, West Salem, La Crosse, La Crescent, St Joseph’s Ridge, Bangor, Rockland, Mindoro, Melrose, Black River Falls and Sparta can view the ceremonies. The ceremonies will also be available on campus TV in classrooms and residence halls.
