The move was made to fill a roster spot after Hawaii first baseman Kevin Macdonald told the team he won’t be reporting in order to work this summer.
Gaynor, 6-foot-4, 213 pounds, is batting .339 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI and a team-leading 21 doubles this spring for WKU. Gaynor played in the New York Collegiate League last summer.
