Published - Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Three win at state piano auditions Three La Crosse area students were winners at the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Badger state piano auditions Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Spring Spaeth, Bobby Levinger and Madeline Davidson, all students of David Reedy, won their divisions at the competition. Levinger won his division for the second straight year, this time capturing the sixth-grade division. Davidson won the 10th-grade division, her second first-place finish at state. She won in 2005. Spaeth won the fourth-grade division. Two La Crosse-area students were runners-up in their divisions — Megan Sorenson, 10th grade, a student of Rita Schuman, and Faith Blum, 11th/12th-grade division, a student of Dorinda Hawk. Six area students received honorable mention — Sarah Osteboe, fourth grade, student of Alethia Kenworthy; Eugenia Kim and Tess Kim, sixth grade, students of David Reedy; Christopher Stancic, ninth grade, student of Judy Stafslien; and Erik Blomquist and Sarvesh Periyasamy, 10th grade, students of David Reedy. More than 90 students competed in eight divisions at the state auditions.
