If you want to go back to the days of "robber barons" then stop demanding unequal police, political, and legal protection for rich crooks aka white collar criminals.
If the poor and unconnected have the ability to rise-up and take out the SOB's at the top, I'm all for stopping redistribution.
Remember the poor didn't cause the depression...the rich did. "

I need a new car but I don't expect the government to use some rich person's taxes to buy me a new car. I always wanted a Mercedes though! "

" Let's look at the statements I posted:
8:40 AM was taken from a 2001 letter to the editor; http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2001/05/30/stories/opinion/01letters30.txt
8:42 AM was taken from a tribune article: http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2003/11/13/news/z02newscounty.txt
Her 2006 and 2007 votes are public record.
8:43 AM is factual, not one administrative bureaucratic position has been cut from the county since she's been on the board and her failure to acknowledge and support our "right to bear arms" shows she doesn't support ALL rights.
It IS her record and as long as the paper refuses to publish her record, I will add it to every article about her from now to election day, as is my right. "

Also, I don't know what you are talking about when you say, "I posted Johnson's actual record." You posted a quote you say is accurate but with no verification. Until you can talk about her actual VOTING record instead of just posting random unsubstantiated quotes, I'm just going to assume you are a liberal-hating loon. "

" Ha! Bought and Paid for?
Check out Danny Kapanke's campaign cash and special interest contributions from 2004. Talk about bought and paid for. Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce practically bought this seat for him.
And Dan has returned the favor. He's voted the WMC/GOP line 90% of the time, and has authored over $250 Million in tax breaks for big businesses and corporations this session alone.
Its time we had a Senator who actually represents the people, and not the special interests...and that sure isn't Dan Kapanke.

" Tara Johnson was recruited to the Progressive Majority Farm Team in the fall of 2007 as a potential candidate for the State Senate in 2008.
Here are some quotes from their () web site: "we do intend to transform America", "We are identifying, training, and supporting candidates."
Recruited by whom? Trained to do what exactly?
Does this organization (PAC) actually represent us, the voters, here in La Crosse? It turns out that the Progressive Majority is a Washington based PAC, talk about your outside money.
Candidates generally disavow any significant entanglement or identification with the organization, citing the "plausible deniability" of 527-like tax-exempt advocacy groups and PACs.
Looks to me like Tara Johnson-Padesky has been bought and paid for, and my grandma had a word for people who where bought and paid for "

" This is exactly why we need a Democrat in this seat. The Dems are going to be in the majority for years, and she will be able to get things done. She will stand up to Russ Decker and make sure that LaCrosse FINALLY has the representation we deserve.
Dan Kapanke couldn't even get things done when he WAS in the majority. He again and again voted to slash funding for public education and health care coverage just because his Majority Leader told him to. Last i heard, he votes how the GOP tells him to over 90% of the time.
Dan Kapanke promised to be a moderate and represent his district. He has failed to deliver on both of these promises.

" Why is this Tara Johnson being unfairly stuck with part of the blame for this? She fought hard and, until elected, has no vote. People should be upset with those who do have a vote, Huebsch and Kapanke for not doing more. Huebsch could have made his Finance Chair get this done and he didn't. When Tara Johnson is elected she is going to fight hard for UWL and all of La Crosse.

" Interesting how in an election year Dan Kapanke is suddenly in favor of supporting the University and its students. When he was in the Majority he voted for record cuts to UW-LAX and increases in tuition.
Maybe if Dan hadn't spent all his time voting against Compassionate Care for Rape Victims, trying to ban birth control, and working to kill health care for every kid in Wisconsin, he could have been more effective at getting these funds for the University. "
notme wrote on May 21, 2008 8:43 AM:
" Johnson does NOT support TOP-DOWN cuts in all state agencies and an actual REDUCTION in tax dollars spent. Just look at how much the county budget has increased since she got on the board.
In addition: Based on her record, Johnson does not support all rights granted us in the constitution, rather ONLY those rights she agrees with, again based on her record.
Of all the candidate choices this fall, Johnson is the worst possible choice. "
notme wrote on May 21, 2008 8:42 AM:
" In 2003, Johnson's statement was [If we think we're not paid enough, we should increase our pay.] How "eletist" is that?
In 2006, Johnson voted FOR the de-criminalization of marijuana. Does that support "family values" or help our kids to NOT USE marijuana?
In 2007, Johnson voted YES to give O'Malley a huge 6% yearly pay increases while those who pay his salary have seen stagnant wages.
She also voted in favor of health insurance for domestic partners, yet another tax increase. "
notme wrote on May 21, 2008 8:40 AM:
" Let's look at some statements made by Johnson in a 2001 letter to the editor about the size of the board:
[I am concerned that some of my fellow supervisors believe that they know what is best on this issue.]
I'll paraphrase; supervisors should NOT be the ones making the decision.
[If you know how things get done, if you know how committees and people and processes, work then I believe you are "qualified" to give an opinion on this issue.]
Again, I'll paraphrase, only those who know HOW the county board works, i.e. supervisors, are qualified to give an opinion.
In one statement, she wants the people to have a voice, and in the other, she says the people aren't qualified.
Net result, the county board got BIGGER costing the taxpayers even MORE in TAXES. "
