Gilbertson, 81, of Merrillan died Thursday, June 19, 2008, in her home. Funeral services will be at noon Sunday at Ho-Chunk District One Community Center, with burial in Little Norway Lutheran Cemetery, both rural Black River Falls, Wis. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Sunday at the community center. Johnson, 79, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holmen Lutheran Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenmound Cemetery, rural Holmen. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, Holmen, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. A complete obituary will follow. Oscar James ‘Slim’ Jacobson ONALASKA/LA CROSSE, Wis. — Oscar James “Slim” Jacobson, 83, of Onalaska and formerly of La Crosse died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Onalaska Care Center with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Fountain, Minn., to Martin and Clara (Woldan) Jacobson. On Oct. 30, 1948, Oscar married Lois M. Olson in Holmen, Wis., and she preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1992. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S Army. Oscar was employed at Gambles in La Crosse, which later became Vaaler Home Improvement, as a roofer and jack-of-all-trades for many years until his retirement in 1988. He was a very caring person who spent over 10,000 hours volunteering at the Onalaska Care Center for the past 17 years. Oscar was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Survivors include his son, Michael of Sparta, Wis.; four grandchildren, Heath Phillips of Holmen, Faith Kleinertz of Onalaska, Jayme Jacobson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Janelle Jacobson of Sparta; two great-grandchildren, Heath Phillips Jr., and Samual Kleinertz; two sisters, Emma Brush-Harter of Ettrick, Wis., and Pearl Klinkenberg of Onalaska; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. In addition to his loving and devoted wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter, Wanda Phillips, on Feb. 1, 2004; four sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be Monday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1931 Loomis St., La Crosse. The Rev. Judd Larson will officiate. Entombment will be in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery in La Crosse, with military honors by the Struck-Klanrud American Legion Post No. 336 of Onalaska and the U.S. Military Funeral Honors Program. Mary Frances Mooney LANSING, Iowa — Mary Frances Mooney, 90, of Lansing died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, both in Lansing. Aarstad, 83, of La Crosse died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse. Memorial services are tentative for June 28 and will be announced by Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Sue Ann Ranum WAUKON, Iowa — Sue Ann Ranum, 59, of Waukon died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Oakland Cemetery, both Waukon. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon. Lillian V. Raabe ONALASKA, Wis. — Lillian V. Raabe, 94, of Onalaska died at her home on Friday, June 20, 2008. She was born in Stevensville, Mich., on April 12, 1914, to Frederick and Agnes (Bujack) Siewert. She married Lester A. Raabe on May 31, 1934, in Stevensville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1987. Lillian was a long-time active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse and served as the kindergarten teacher at First Lutheran School for 27 years. Lillian is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Arlan) Miller of Janesville, Wis., and Peggy (Stephen) Berg of Holmen, Wis.; two daughters-in-law, Lillian M. Raabe of Burnsville, Minn., and Diane (Larry) Lindesmith of Onalaska; eight grandchildren, Michael (Lori) Raabe of Holmen, Dennis (Kim) Raabe of Janesville, Sherri (Joel) Wendland of Burnsville, Scott (Bridget) Miller of Burlington, Wis., David (Dena) Miller of Chelsea, Mich., Daniel (Jodi) Miller of Whitewater, Wis., Rick (April) Bahr of Greenville, Wis., and Christina (Todd) Neumeister of Onalaska; 24 great- grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lillian was preceded in death by two sons, James and Richard; a granddaughter, Karen Miller; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel and Hope; and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day. — Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy Edith Clark WESTBY, Wis. — Edith Clark, 80, of Westby passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2008, after being in hospice care at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born Nov. 4, 1927, to Stephan and Carla (Jacobson) Erlandson. She married Orville Clark on Nov. 10, 1945. They spent most of their married life farming in the La Farge, Wis., area. Edith worked for a short time at Mauston Manufacturing Co. in Hillsboro, Wis. Edith loved gardening, bird watching, making lefse, reading and collecting unique pieces of writing. When Edith and Orville moved to Westby, they became active members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where they worked as a team making lefse for church functions. They also started a lawn mowing service and could often be seen buzzing around town helping others. Edith is survived by her husband, Orville; three children, Jim (Jackie Koppel) of Marshfield, Wis., Eileen (Eric) Nemec of Belleville, Wis., and Barb Edwards of Albany, Wis.; three grandchildren, Paul (Amanda) Nemec, Nicole Lenzer and Alex Lenzer; and three great-grandchildren, Bryanna, Owen and Cooper. She also has three surviving sisters, Winnie Knadle, Marian Stanek and Caroline Erlandson; and two surviving brothers, Harlen (Dode) Erlandson and John Erlandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Dell Cemetery, rural Westby.
