Police department wins re-accreditation

.
The La Crosse Police Department won a three-year re-accreditation Monday after the unanimous vote of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group governing board.

The department is one of 16 accredited by WILEAG among the 650 in the state. It was the first municipal law enforcement agency to achieve the accredited status in 1998 and was re-accredited in 2004.
Re-accreditation means that the department has demonstrated its voluntary commitment to law enforcement excellence by its compliance with 233 standards deemed essential to the protection of the life, health, safety and rights of the people it serves, according to the department.

“The WILEAG accreditation status assures the citizens of La Crosse that their police department is committed to the highest level of professional police service for the La Crosse community,” Police Chief Ed Kondracki said.

" As someone who has lived in several cities over the past 25 years, I can say that La Crosse has an excellent Police department. We are very fortunate to have officers who are very qualified, professional, and who have excellent human relations skills. The emphasis on having officers who are respectful to people (even offenders) is a hallmark of excellent law enforcement. Thank a cop for putting his or her life on the line to protect you and your community! "

" "TO PROTECT AND SERVE" Our La Crosse police department is committed in doing just that. There are certain bloggers who may not believe this as so but I wish to commend the police for trying to uphold the quote while in the midst of budget cuts from state resources. Just say thank you however next time you get a ticket or when they are investigating an incident. They are doing their best within the limits. "
