The Department of Natural Resources said Thursday most of the debris that washed downstream from the Lake Delton area in last month's floods still is there. That could create hazards for boaters, water-skiers and personal-watercraft riders.
DNR spokeswoman Barbara Wolf said agents have documented more than 80 visible piles of debris on the river between Lake Delton and the Columbia Power Plant area. She said some items are just under the water, and can be as large as a section of a roof.
She said state and federal officials are discussing how to have the debris removed.
