Whether you know him as C.C., CC, or Carsten Charles Sabathia, any fan of Major League Baseball is familiar with the 2007 Cy Young award winner. Now Brewer fans have the privilege of watching him pitch for them.
An enormous amount of pressure is being set on Sabathia’s large shoulders, but he should be used to it, being the ace of the Cleveland Indians pitching staff since his debut as a 20-year-old in 2001. He has been rock-solid his entire career, never making less than 28 starts in a season and winning 100 games in his first seven seasons, all the while pitching for teams that didn’t always have fantastic records. He will certainly be met with a hero’s welcome at Miller Park when he makes his Brewer debut tonight.
If Sabathia can lead Milwaukee to the pennant or not is yet to be seen, but as a life-long Brewers fan, I can say that the acquiring of a big-name pitcher in hopes of getting the team to October is a lot more to cheer about than I’m accustomed to.
