Zabel Katelyn Katie’ Beran Katelyn “Katie” Beran, 15, of La Crosse died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Katie was born on April 28, 1993, in La Crosse. She was entering her sophomore year at Central High School. Katie is survived by her parents, Joe and Tami; and her two brothers, Isaak (18) and Jacob (22), all of La Crosse. She is also survived by her grandparents, Roger and Diane Beran of St. Paul, Minn., and Don and Judy Lardy of Buffalo, Minn. In addition to her parents, brothers and grandparents, she is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, all who loved her dearly. Katie had countless friends and was loved by many. She was the spirit of our family and will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4141 Mormon Coulee Road. Pastors Meredith McGrath and Roger Hjelle will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be sent to www.schumacher-kish.com. LeRoy F. Blom BLAIR, Wis. LeRoy F. Blom, 83, of Blair died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Grand View Care Center in Blair. LeRoy was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Tappen Coulee, rural Blair, to Albert and Mina (Pederson) Blom. He married Marie Paulson on March 23, 1963, in Ettrick, Wis. Leroy and Marie farmed in Washington Coulee for several years. LeRoy also worked on other area farms. LeRoy was later employed with the Trempealeau County (Wis.) Highway Department. Marie preceded LeRoy in death on Feb. 2, 2001. LeRoy enjoyed playing the fiddle, piano, mandolin and banjo. He loved music, joking around and working on tractors. Leroy is survived by three sons, Mark of Holmen, Wis., Dan (Lori) of Evansville, Wis., and Kevin (Renae) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two daughters, Lisa Blom of Galesville, Wis., and Kari (Brian) Rowe of Rochester, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, Adam, Jordan, Tyler, Erik, Emma, Madeline and Leah Blom, Megan Robertson, Jade, Tanner and Mariah Hoff, and Elli and Nora Rowe; a great-grandson, Ryan Robertson; and a sister, LaBelle Anderson of Blair. In addition to his parents and wife, LeRoy was preceded in death by two sisters, Leonora and Evelyn; and two brothers, Orton and James. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. in North Beaver Creek Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in North Beaver Creek First Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Ettrick. Pastor Elizabeth Albertson will officiate. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. in Jack Funeral Home in Blair, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Judith M. (Carlone) Bohn SPARTA, Wis. Judith M. (Carlone) Bohn, 67, of Sparta died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in her home. She was born in Sparta on June 12, 1941, to Ray and Beverly (Fritsch) Carlone. She grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1959. She went on to cosmetology school in Eau Claire, Wis., and worked as a beautician at Corrine’s Beauty Shop and Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta. On Nov. 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to William J. Bohn at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was known for her generous soul and caring spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, playing bingo with her friends, and going to the movies with the love of her life, Bill. She was a charter member of the Sparta Eagles Club Auxiliary Aerie 2833 and St. Theresa’s Altar Society. She is survived by her husband, William J. Bohn of Sparta; son, Raymond “Chub” (Letty) Bohn of Brownsville, Texas; a daughter, Kim (Michael) Mulvaney of Sparta; her grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa (John), Matt (Megan), Summer, and James; a great-grandson, George; two sisters, Linda (Dick) Yanke of Sparta and Patty (John) Donald of Brownbury, Ind.; two brothers, Larry Carlone of Sparta and Nick (Marla) Carlone of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly (Fritsch) Carlone; her father, Raymond Carlone; a sister, Mary Jo Carlone; and a brother, Ricky Carlone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with the Rev. James Leary OFM Cap. officiating. Cook, 97, of La Crescent died Monday, July 7, 2008, at Golden Living Center, La Crescent. She was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Reno, Minn., to Charles and Esther (Wetchen) Behrndt. Marie married Lyle T. Cook on June 5, 1931, in South Ridge, Minn., where she had lived as a child. Lyle preceded her in death in 1994. Marie enjoyed bowling and was a member of the La Crescent United Methodist Church, where she also served as church custodian for many years. She is survived by a son, Alden (Shirley) Cook of La Crescent; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Larson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at La Crescent United Methodist Church. Pastor David Price will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. DeBoer, 77, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home. He was born in La Crosse on Feb. 26, 1931, to Martin and Alice (Mulder) DeBoer. He married Delpha Herbert on Aug. 17, 1957, in Richland Center, Wis. Bronno served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Holmen American Legion and the Onalaska Masonic Lodge. Bronno was a retired machine tool instructor at WTC; he also owned and operated his own tool-and-die shop. Bronno enjoyed going camping with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Delpha; a daughter, Lisa DeBoer; three sons, Michael (LoAnn) of La Crescent, Minn., Jeffrey (Judy Olson) of La Crosse, and Gregory (Beth) of La Crosse; grandchildren, Shana, Austin, Joshua and Logan; sisters, Mildred (Eldon) Hall of Medford, Wis., and Gertrude (Calvin) Paudler of Onalaska, Wis.; and a sister-in-law, Ginny DeBoer of Arizona. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lloyd DeBoer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at North Presbyterian Church, 1327 N. Salem Road La Crosse. The Rev. Scott Skogen will officiate, and burial will be in the Greenmound Cemetery. Mary Patricia Duckett Mary Patricia Duckett, 48, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 8, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at her time of death. Mary was born in Forbach, France, on Dec. 21, 1959, to Donald and Betty (Bier) Toner. She grew up in an Air Force family and lived around the United States and Germany. She is a graduate of Kaiserslautern Armed Forces High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She moved to La Crosse with her first husband, Steve Miller, and their child, Matthew. She later married David Duckett on July 2, 1983, and the family welcomed daughter, Kara, the following year. Mary lived for her family, and was a passionate, loving mother and wife with a tender heart whose compassion extended to the many animals she rescued. One of her last wishes was to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary. She beamed during the celebration. Mary worked at Fox 25, WKTY and WXOW 19 before finding her dream job. Mary loved being a realtor and worked for Prudential Lovejoy Realty for the past four years. In addition to her husband, Dave of 25 years, she is survived by her children, Matthew and Kara, both of La Crosse; sisters, Brigitte Black of Springboro, Ohio, and Isabelle (Matt) Carpenter of San Antonio; her brother, Dan (Tammy) Toner of Great Falls, Mont.; her mother, Betty (John) Swedberg of Kalispell, Mont.; and father, Don Toner of Great Falls, Mont. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse, with Chaplain Kathleen Charles officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn North Cemetery, La Crosse. They were a great source of comfort. Thelma G. Hanson BLAIR, Wis. Thelma G. Hanson, 79, of Blair died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in Cambridge Medical Center, Cambridge, Minn. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Lutheran Church, with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, both in Blair. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Jack Funeral Home, Blair, and 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday. Eugene Gene’ LeValle Hauser ONALASKA, Wis. Eugene “Gene” LeValle Hauser, 78, died peacefully Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Gene was born Jan. 9, 1930, to Frank and Margurite Hauser. He married Irene Sobkowiak on Jan. 8, 1949. He is survived by his wife, Irene; seven sons, Kirk (Sue), Ron (Sue), Lonnie (Jackie), Stan (Diane), Russ (Cindy), Hugh (Kathy) and Ken (Jolene); three daughters, Sue (Bob) VanRiper, Barb (John) Snyder and Kristine (Steve) Visher. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and their spouses, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steve; one brother, William; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter and Lillian Sobkowiak. After 32 years, Gene retired from driving semi. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, his yard, flowers, bird watching, tractor rides, fishing in Canada and spending winters in Phoenix. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska. The Rev. Edwin Klawitter WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. Edwin Klawitter, 92, of West Melbourne and formerly of La Crosse died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla. He was born June 8, 1916, in La Crosse to Carl and Louise (Meyer) Klawitter. He married Jenora Becker on Dec. 18, 1942, at Camp Blanding, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Jenora of West Melbourne. He is further survived by nephews David Klawitter and Ronald Klawitter, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lillian Klawitter; and brother, Arthur Klawitter. (Paulson) McBain, 88, of Chippewa Falls died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Chippewa Falls. She was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Manchester Township, Jackson County, Wis., to Caroline (Thompson) and Gilbert Paulson. She was raised in Manchester and then moved to Blair, Wis. She graduated from Merillan High School in Merillan, Wis. Julia married Arthur McBain on Feb. 16, 1942, in Alexandria, La., while he was in the service. After their marriage, they lived in Holmen, Wis., and Ettrick, Wis., where they farmed. They moved to Chippewa Falls in July 1962. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on Aug. 18, 1996; her parents; four sisters, Mabel Anaas, Grace Wold, Margaret Austin and Dorothy Boe; and three brothers, Leonard, Oliver and Clarence “Pat” Paulson. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Rick Hoyme of Central Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Shamrock Cemetery, town of Shamrock, Jackson County. Tarjeson, 33, of La Crosse passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at her home. She was born July 12, 1974, in La Crosse to Gene and Diana (Celius) Pfaff and graduated from Central High School in 1992. In 1994, she graduated from WTC with an associate degree in early childhood education. For the past five years Angel has co-owned and operated the Kids at Play Child Care in La Crosse. On May 14, 2005, she married Scott A. Tarjeson in La Crosse. Angel was a member of WCCAA and loved bowling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Angel was a vibrant, bubbly and cheerful person who loved teasing anyone who crossed her path. She will be forever missed by her family, friends and day care kids who affectionately called her “Auntie Angel.” In addition to her husband, Scott, she is further survived by her daughter, Jasmine, at home; her parents, Gene and Diana Pfaff of La Crosse; her maternal grandma, Bernice Celius of La Crosse; a brother Joe (Angie) Pfaff of Stoddard, Wis.; mother and father-in-law, Roger and Joan Tarjeson of Lewiston, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nancy (Kevin) Nolan of Lake City, Minn., Dennis (Sarah) Tarjeson of Plymouth, Wis., and Randy Tarjeson of Utica, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Harley, Drew and Ashton Pfaff, all of Stoddard, Colby, Paige and Asa Tarjeson, all of Plymouth, and Tyler Nolan of Lake City; her grandmother-in-law, Inez Lamont of Waterville, Minn.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
