The La Crosse Blue Stars moved within a point of the 80-point mark and closer to the Boston Crauders with a fifth-place finish Wednesday at Drums Across Cajun Field in Lafayette, La.

The Blue Stars scored 79.05 points, finishing just over a point behind the fourth-place Boston Crusaders (80.1). They defeated four world class corps -- Glassmen (78.4), Crossmen (76.55), Spirit of Jacksonville State University in Alabama (74.9) and the Colts (74.85).
The Cadets won the contest with 88.5 points. Carolina Crown was second with 87.75 points and the Bluecoats third with 84.45.

The Blue Stars compete today in Houston, Texas.
