We Say: Jeff Brown on the fiasco known as Brett Favre’s comeback

Go ahead, kiss and make up. Now. We need to move forward in the world of sports.

It has never ceased to amaze me how in love this state — and now the country — is with Brett Favre. Lives seem to hinge on his every word, his every move, to the point where enough is enough.

The guy is/was a great quarterback, but he’s not the President of the United States, nor is he running for that office as far as I know.

Do we need a mediator here? Does the NFL have to step in and seize control of Brett’s, and Ted Thompson’s, ego? And where is Mark Murphy, the Packers’ new CEO, in all of this.

Seems like a peculiar time to be silent.

Maybe Roger Goodell needs to vacate his office for a day and convene a meeting between arguably the NFL’s most popular player and the Packers front office. Do it right on Brett’s back porch, where it seems several conversations have already taken place. Let’s put an end to this public bickering and reach a resolution.

This burgeoning mess is hurting the Packers, the NFL, and yes, certainly Favre. It’s time someone, somewhere put it to rest.

Release him. Trade him. Make him honor his contract. Please, do something — soon.
