Minnesota's unemployment rate stood at 5.3 percent in June, a slight downtick from 5.4 percent unemployment in May. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development said Minnesota employers added 3,400 positions in June. Many of those jobs are seasonal.
While Minnesota's unemployment rate dropped slightly, the nationwide rate held steady at 5.5 percent.
Minnesota's manufacturing sector showed the strongest job growth in June, adding 1,300 jobs. The trade, transportation and utilities sector lost about 1,500 jobs.
