Published - Friday, July 18, 2008 Blue Stars top 80-point mark The La Crosse Blue Stars broke the 80-point barrier for the first time this season Thursday while placing fourth at an eight world-class corps competition in Houston, Texas. The Blue Stars scored 80.95 points, finishing just ahead of the Glassmen by two-tenths of a point (80.75). They also beat the Colts (76.75), Spirit of Jacksonville State University in Alabama (76.65) and the Troopers (75.25). The Cadets won the contest with 89.7 points. Carolina Crown was second with 88.6 points and the Boston Crusaders were third (82.05). The Blue Stars, who are ranked 10th in world class, will meet all the corps in the class for the first time this season at a regional championship Saturday at DCI Southwestern Championships at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
