We Say: Dave Myers, Tribune sportswriter and copy editor, on the NFL investigation into players using gang signs

I will be the first to admit that as the years go by I am finding myself to be a little less “street” than I used to think I was.

That being said, I still think you have to be an absolute moron to be an NFL player and be flashing gang signs during games.

The NFL has determined that this problem is prevalent enough to warrant hiring outside “experts” to examine game film in an attempt to identify players who are mixing in a little “gangster” with their on-field celebrations.

If you are talented enough to land on an NFL roster you also are receiving a rather handsome salary for your efforts. Unfortunately, in the NFL as in all walks of life, a giant salary clearly doesn’t guarantee a giant intellect.
